I was terminally bored just a couple of weeks ago, but now that's all changed.

I ordered a ton of Murakami novels & books on the brain from Amazon to keep me occupied, and I also decided to buy a condo with my brother. My brother's a real estate agent, so he's taking care of most of the complicated details, but I do have to apply for a loan. Fortunately my loan officer is supernice & sounds adorable on the phone, so the experience hasn't been unpleasant so far. I'm also going to start volunteering for the Boys & Girls Club again soon, which will be so much fun! I loved working with the kids there a few years ago, so I'm sure it'll be just as fun now.

I finished Sputnik Sweetheart in 24 hours, but Norwegian Wood took me a few days. Murakami's writing always makes me feel somewhat melancholy, but a theme of his work that inspires me is how life continues after tragic or depressing events. I love that he writes about sorrow with such intensity and compassion, but accepts that part of life is carrying on in spite of it. I always get the impression that this is something he considers more difficult than giving in to sorrow and becoming depressed or committing suicide, which was a major theme in Norwegian Wood. I think he's right. It's much more difficult to go through painful experiences & ultimately recover than it is to give in. I'm in love with his writing right now.love

Easter supper at my house was delicious. My grandmother made the yummiest traditional Bahian seafood dishes, and we had black beans & rice, Brazilian vegetable salad, and my mama's famous cheesecake and flan. Some very sweet boys had supper with us, and afterward we walked the dogs to the park & hung out while some kids tried to suss out the hidden Easter eggs from the pinestraw underneath the swings. I got to catch up with a good friend afterward, which was lovely, too. It was a gorgeous day and the only way it could have been better is if we'd all actually gone dancing last night like we planned instead of falling asleep. Oh well.blush

I can't wait to have my own place. I'll have a roommate, but the condo has a great roommate floorplan, so I'll have lots of privacy. I'm just thrilled because if everything goes as planned I'll have my own place before school starts so I can study in peace-always a good thing.biggrin

I've been dancing as much as possible, and working out. Unfortunately, I haven't been having as much sex as I would like, but life can't be perfect all the time. Today's my day off so I've been loving on Sherlock, cleaning my room, and reading. Now I'm going to polish off the rest of the Riesling from yesterday...reading & drinking is so much fun.smile
