my boyfriend is in the hospital.
he went climbing on sunday and a rock fell on him.
i didn`t really know what had happened until i got there to see him today. he kept making it sound like it was no big deal, but then when i got there it was pretty shocking. his face is all fucked up and his nose is broken, his hand is mangled, and he won`t be able to walk for at least 4 months since he broke a number of bones in one ankle. he went for surgery last night, and he`s going in for another one tomorrow.
i hate being surprised by shit like that. it reminded me of 3 months ago when i had to visit my grandmother for one last time in the hospital. i was shocked at how different she looked, just like i was today. i guess i should have put two and two together when they sent me to the trauma ward to see him, but it didn`t quite click.
i`m still not sure how i feel about this.

My best friend climbs and I have to admit I worry every time he goes up.
