_MIKED_ If the pain is mostly constant, it's most likely infected. If it's only while eating/chewing, it's most likely only exposed. You are lucky that you have a great friend that can check you out for nothing. I have 2 teeth that need to be pulled, and replaced. It's going to cost me a fortune and a half! The first time I had an infected tooth, I couldn't bear the pain, and took myself to the ER. Got some vicodin that didn't help much until I picked up the antibiotic. I'll never go to the ER for that again! almost 500 bucks later....Good luck man. Tooth pain is the worst thing i've ever felt, including breaking my arm in 2 places in 3rd grade jumping off the swings, and breaking my thumb joint sliding into home plate playing softball...
