Family problems always make Christmas awkward.
There is one point to remember though:
As much as you may dislike what they do, as much as they may drive you nuts, wherever you go, whatever you do, they will always be your family.
My mother lives and dies by that and considering how many of my family I have been told some really odd and/or horrible stories about it really surpirses me how much we just took it and kept right on going.
Although my family is Veeeeery extended, especially on the Colombian side so I'm not sure if more English families work the same.
Anyways, opinion given.

Thanx. Its not a stoopid thing to say, and its nice to hear you care. I'm sorry that you had to go through the same thing. I think its sick how some people can just use others to make themselves feel strong and superior. I'm ok (thanx for asking). The best way to figure out what to be for Halloween is just go to a thrift store (Value Village for me) and poke around till you find something you like,s if you have time try that. If you're too busy, well, I also like zanafar's fallen angel idea.
