Why I Would Rather Be A Painter
For one thing
instead of just sitting it a straight back chair
hunched over a ring of lamplight,
I would be standing on a drop cloth
surrounded by open cans of paint,
every one a well of color.
Instead of spending the morning on a corner,
I would pace back and forth
under a skylight with gliding clouds....

I started the process of pillaging my new library's CD collection... I have some issues with the limit of how many one can check out at a time (three...*blech*) but, I sure have no problem with what they stock! My first day's take after a back and forth trip was: The Essential Fripp & Eno, Ray Charles - The Birth of Soul, Tom Waits -...

I forgot to mention that I played guitar the other day! I flew through some exercises happy to see that my digits remembered what to do and where to go. *whew* Part of the fingertip still has a blisterish section of non-calloused baby skin...really sensitive to grating metal strings!
It seems as if I'll be able to begin practice again within the next week or...

re learning is always a great feeling but also a apian in the ass
hope it all comes back and your fingers survive it all happily as well, i am going to try and learn the banjo this year and the Electric bass ( i know the stand up but prolly need a refresher on it too ) , i am really excited about it, but i need the instruments first
for your callused fingers

tx for the response - i totally get it. i'll have to borrow the secret-handshake-asspat motif.
yay that you remember your guitarful goodness! that is so rad! think how much fun you will have building those callouses again. strange thought - would applying the liquid skin type bandage before playing even out the finger pain? hmmm, it would delay callousing though. anyWAY.
yr new neighbors will probably love the melodic sounds. oooooh ahhhhh. at any rate, you will learn quickly whether or not they are the groovy type.
yr new ink is fanTAStic!! so vibrant - really love that red. excellent work!!
hope yr wellish.

Got to take my not so li'l brother to the local animal shelter to put dibs on a greyhound that just came in. My mom hatched a plan to adopt one a few months ago & has been waiting by the phone for news on an arrival date for a new crop. We took a couple out for a walk around the complex, noted body...

I think I made a fine choice tonight... Rather than attend that high school reunion which I mentioned some time past (*cough_cocksuckers_cough*), I racked up some easy overtime at work. Every Friday night the residents of my group home go out on the town for pizza & bowling - I was grandmarshall of that parade.
Pizza is a tame affair but knocking pins is something...

LOL....Grand Marshall.......Jeebus.......cant stop laughing from the mental images......ball retriever exhaust....... Dude, you have my life and I want it back. Damn I am still giggling (I started this post 10 minutes ago)
Reunions are kind of strange (I loved high school) and I guess that I dont mind the catching up, I just find it disturbing how the people change. Some for the good, some for the worse. Its funny though, 15 year reunion and girls that (back in the day) wouldnt piss in my eye if my brain was on fire, suddenly wanted to be rescued from their hum-drum lives and found me to be attractive now. Go figure.
Pizza and Bowling sounds a hell of a lot more fun, so next reunion, can I dodge it and hang out with you and the gang......LOL.........ill buy.
Peace bro (with much respect and awe)

Whewie! What a party that must have been. Teehee! Much, much better than spending time with old high school peeps. I was either completely ignored or picked on mercilessly in high school, so I really don't care if I ever see any of those people again. Not even to gloat.
Thanks for the smiles and giggles. You are the bestest kind of cool.
PS~ How are you healing? All itchy yet?

oooh, this is cool! me likes. you know, i always thought the big bad wolf got a bad rap. he sounds much more frisky and fun in yr version. you just know he was a sexymf.
as for tv, i have taken your suggestion indeed. i am off the tube! uch, i feel so much better. i can look in the paper to see if anything worth watching is on, but this will prevent me from languishing in front of the mass media detritis. i did recently see a v. cool special on the guy who created the twilight zone, so that was worth watching. the rest? mind numbing garbage.
so how goes the unpacking?

I'll have to unplug and back away from the computer some time soon... I re-discovered a book that I had read back in music school that redefined a lot of musical ideas of mine. It is out of print but the author, in a graceous act of brilliance, put the book up on the web as downloadable text. Only problem to this is the text...

Take care,
Take care,
Thanks to my new Sandman calendar & the leap year, I now know my B-day lands on summer solstice! It normally shares Father's Day & my mother's B-day is the day after mine, the 21st. Growing up I always thought this sucked! My phillipino Dennis the Menace childhood-self hated the fact that I couldn't just hoard & shine in b-day attention. I regularly shared a...

I honestly didn't think the phone would be up and running today but, here I am & it's seems I'm posting in the first time in...forever! My DSL is down for the next couple of weeks but, thankfully I get a dial-up connection included in the price!

So, let's the game of good news/bad news... Good news - Alien Princess and I have successfully moved into our swinging new pad! All bulky things are settled, utilities are on and humming and we spent the new year together there. Smooth sailing! Bad news - Phone lines are out until the 5th, DSL out until the 15th or so...
So true believers, this may...

The moving van Eagle has landed!
Made four trips of random bulky stuff - Bookcases, futon frame & mattress, what have you. Two trips to the hardware store and at least another one tomorrow. I scoured like a motherfucker & plan to take on minor repair/replacement work in the bathroom & bedroom. Though, I'll have to be sure to bring my Discman & a case...

An afternoon spent in contemplation... I got the word from one of the only friends of mine I've kept from high school, an nice guy but at times shallow. I wrote the Amibition poem about him a long time ago. He called me seeking info about Univ. of Nebraska at Lincoln & living costs, etc. He received a full scholarship in their doctorate program -...

Ahhh, college. I started out like a hurricane in a handbag..straight A's for the first 2 years..then i met this chick who looked like Stevie Nicks with tattoos and piercings, then i forgot all about showing up for class, books, ect. Flunked out, never thought much about it until recently, and all i got to say about it is "thank god for stevie nicks look-a-like floozies". I cant imagine what direction my life would have taken if i had completed the whole thing. I am happy as hell with life how it is, there is nothing that a degree would have given me outta life that i havent already gotten on my own without it. Except maybe Phd at the end of my name.
Happy New Year Bro. No regrets.
