Interesting fun has been had in the past 48 hours... Yesterday I attended the Passion Party of my friend, Lisa. For those not in the relative know, it's like a porn Tupperware party - Hostess, person passing around samples of plastic and rubber ware... Almost exactly the same thing.
I made Roasted Pepper & Pineapple Salsa that was made mild, lest no one brave what...

What if Testimonials weren't shout-outs but, were the biographical blurbs of the damned..?
I think that'd make things a little more interesting. Here's to hoping that you poor souls agree...
Items for today...two meetings, a drive to Westport to have dinner w/ Elbereth's grandmother and probably the work of unseen forces against me. Ya know, the usual...

your testimonial rocks my world ~ that is so very precious. i mean, so very biographically damned. damnably damned.
so, i am interested in this being more interested in the journey than the destination thing ... i never exactly thought of it in thouse terms, although you describe exactly what a friend of mine is going through. and, i get it in a sense, including that when things are finished i feel a certain let down, but i also neeeed to get to the end soemtimes. my problem, in a way, is that i want a conclusion before a process. that does not so much happen. i would love to read about yr musical calculus.
i hope you had a fun dinner and kicked the ass of unseen forces. grrrrr.

And, the Pre-Poetry Day entry... *grumble* It seems I shouldn't be too smart for my own good... I'd thought that I had carefully arranged to have actual days off rather than be suckered back into more overtime. I don't have to fill any missing shoes but, I had forgotten I have three meetings to attend...two bullshit meetings, one job performance review (where they'll say how...

Of late, I've felt somewhat bad that my posts have been work-heavy... I can only imagine it being incredibly boring after the first one or two whinings of "Work, work, work, work..." So in an effort to bring you, the reading public, a fuller WelnTaod picture, I happily bring you the following non-employment themed entry.
I was able to hike up West Rock yesterday afternoon......

Ah yes, life with a net pet(s)...
The twins, as it were, are remarkably cool! I'm having difficulty in walking past where they're kept - I feel guilty if I catch their attention, I have to take 'em out to play for a little while... Easy to do at night, not so tip-toe'ing back & forth trying to get readu for work. Not wanting to...

HOLD THE PHONE! Where is AlienPrincess?
Yep, so I'm at work...now into hour #16 out of 25-26 hour shift.
*thinks about overtime* Yeah... I've busted out w/ my Piece o' Shit laptop and am cruising along at a pokey 28.8 bps. I volunteered for possibly another 1-3 shifts over the next 2-3 days. The stress level will waver from tepid to really, really undesirable. The main reason I find myself willing...

actually the visit was quite nice. i think my distance et mental warrior stance erected the proper barriers to keep me safe & keep drama at bay, w/o chilling the entire day. not too shabby, really. plus, i got the perfect gift for her, and that always helps.
what a tough work week, my dear! yikes!! it sounds like you are hanging in there, though, which is very impressive. you have such wonderful compassion for your residents. they are really lucky to have someone who cares as much as you do there. now, if you could just pare those shifts down a bit, you could care for yourself as well, yes? hope that you are carrying on and not to lost down the caffiene well.

Crazy.
So, I watched a movie that entered the world under my radar... Wim Wenders directed a film called "The Soul of a Man". It was part of Martin Scorsese's The Blues mini-series that aired on PBS some time ago. Let's just say, it was really good!
It was the biographical look at Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson & J.B. Lenoir and their walking the line...

So, back to work I went... *sigh* Yes, I can hear the sympathy rolling in for the steadily-employed, works 3-days-a-week guy.
I was well worth it... I received a gift certificate!
My agency hands out $25 gift cards for quarterly perfect attendance & $250 for a whole year w/o an absence. I'm rarely sick so, racking these things in have been easy over the past...

I rather like elvis costellos version of Funny valentine. Actuallly most of his stuff is just pure golden in my book.
*stretch* Yep, it's day three of my 3 1/2 day weekend...and we'll get to the poetry towards the end, friends.
Elbereth & I pulled out a few hundred hairs putting together a new computer super-desk for her small silicon hive-consciousness. I started the manly duty of assembling it in a room large enough to spread the pieces out, etc. Halfway through we came to the...

So, I arrived home last night after working my 14 hour shift, fired up the computer up and plopped in front of it and this site to update. For the next 20 minutes, I managed to write something in the neighborhood of 12-15 paragraphs reporting how this book I just finished tore me a new chest cavity. It reminded me of old wounds of my...

hope you got in lots of good nuzzlingwuzzling.

God-Shaped Hole. Sounds intriguing. I've got one of the late Jeff Buckley's CDs, Grace. He was a interesting guy, clearly a talent that had not been totally tapped.
bike trails, huh? well, perhaps you all can do that for the next outing! it sounds like there are some lovely areas around you to enjoy. perhaps you and the lovely elbereth can picnic out there and tell us all about it!
hope yr wellish and goodish.
