Brief update, friends! It's T-Minus 5+ weeks to babytimes and I'm very excited! Fatherhood will be bizarre and exciting and scary as shit and I'm trying to handle all of it in stride. Newborn Care class is this weekend and I foresee remarkable differences since I last helped raise my kid brother 20+ years ago. Wow - Quick flash of feeling old! blackeyed

Rainy...

Hola friends! Dropping a quick note from work. Summer in Portland continues to remind me why I moved away from the East Coast - The high this past month was 87 and un-humid at that. On average, it's been chilly in the morning, warming to a balmy 74 or so. I know, tough stuff, huh? whatever

Allergies are the worst in memory and now continue to...

Hello friends! This Oregonian hopes you're well. The last posting was two weeks before a nice car-totaling head-on accident. Fortunately, I was fine for the most part though, it's left me on the sidelines of things I care about - Setting up our new house, competing in the new men's roller derby league I helped start, making babies, etc. This happening now nine...

What up, my brother! Wow, glad to hear you're alright from that crash. That's some scary sounding stuff. Congrats on the promotion; I hope they come to their senses and start adequately compensating you. wink

Boo!

Almost literal year since last post... But, that's a good thing. Currently enjoying Week Two of Homeownership. 13 months from unemployment to buying a house is certainly bragging rights.

I'd like to say more, as always but, I've got a couple of projects (dinner) before the Mrs comes home...

When the system renewed my membership a couple of days ago, I...

I am embarrassed to say this, but I've never seen Hunt for Red October or Crimson Tide. Or, Shawshank Redemption or The Green Mile. All four are "guy" movies. Wow, I've got to work on seeing those. wink

A brief post to let you all know I'm still alive and things are well.

1) I'm working and well! I was picked up by a mental health agency that runs group homes in the Northwest, w/ populations primarily schizophrenic. They liked me so much that I received two promotions before I even started working, a third now that they see me on...

Thanks, my brother. I think things will finally work out, they just never go as quickly and as smoothly as we hope. How are things out in Oregon?

Turkey Day was wonderful! For both Lyle and Lili, it was perhaps their very first Thanksgiving away from their families. Amanda Rae and I had long known that those people whom you dread to see twice a year don't have to be the family you spend holidays with. All in all, it was just the four of us. I cooked my first bird and...

Well friends, the eagle has landed... Lili and I arrived into Portland in the last few days of September. The whole drive took us about 8 days altogether and went extremely well! The saving graces were Sirius satellite radio and their comedy & new wave stations; Iowa wineries, cheese & fruit lunches and well-maintained picnic areas; lumbar pillows & 8-hour drive times and lastly, most importantly, having a co-pilot who's a fucking crack-up, at least when...

Is this the long-awaited and overdue blog post I've promised to so many, so long? We'll see... I've an hour before the Mrs. wakes up and I need to beat her to the shower, or at least jump in there with.

So, marriage..? Yes! We got hitched in Nevada's Valley of Fire State Park. We had originally planned it as eloping...

Busy, and brief to say the least... T-Minus 3 days to getting hitched. Overwhelmingly overdue to post but, you can expect that next weekend once I'm back home. Thinking of having drinks w/ locals and catching up properly.

In the pantheon of coolness, you are the czar. wink Congratulations on the nuptials and best of luck on your new life in Oregon. When do you move?

elmcitydrunk:

Congrats. There are books to be returned, beer to be consumed, and conversation to be had before the western passage calls you- so call me. We'll double date. I'll buy at Sitar.
