i still see quite a few job listings looking for flash artists. the novelty has somewhat worn off, but plenty of people are still in need.
the best advice, which i'm sure tuffy has told you already, is to diversify. learn as many programs as possible and you'll find your way out there

a friend of mine does all that stuff, like flash on websites and stuff, he gets work cos here in england i would say at least 85% of us are about as technical as a shoe. oh and i thought of a another film thats better than that madonna one... vanilla sky, a very good film which gets extra points for using jeff buckley in it..... im done...
