I got my Christmas present from myself in the mail today; it's a pin-up calendar of chairs.

That's right, chairs. The hottest chairs I've ever seen, I might add. November is my favorite. It's called the Sitzmaschine, and it was made in Austria, which I find particularly fitting for the month of November.

Hot, hot chairs.

"With the influx of new restaurants came new dishes, like Waldorf Salad and Eggs Benedict, both created at the Waldorf-Astoria in the 1890's. The latter was designed as a hangover cure for one Samuel Benedict, though how anyone with a hangover could face poached eggs swimming in Hollandaise sauce and think it recuperative will forever be a mystery to me."

I can start Monday. And as a bonus, just for you, I'll throw in a little bit of triangle action.

I was allergic to eggs for most of my life (so far).
archernu:
Maybe I'll just bronze a pile of Nutter Butters for your next birthday, then. I'm sure you'd love that.

I don't even dislike you for being your normal, foreward-thinking and productive self. I just hate myself for always procrastinating until I force myself into an anxious scramble.

I'm watching a PBS Nature miniseries on evolution (fascinating!), drinking tea, and making dinner, braised pork chops with curried apples over butter-cream mashed potatoes. It's a lovely evening.

1. My basic cable package --which is req. for my broadband connection-- doesn't include PBS. I find this extremely strange.

2. I'm drinking some Oolong tea right now, myself. Loose; not bagged. It's delicious.

3. I love it when you post about food, but sometimes it makes me envious. *wink*

Did your m's, n's, and ing's come out funny for the duration of the oatmeal crisis? These are the things a linguist wonders

I'm about to give Faust's chai recipe a try in prep for a long night of studying. Not lovely at all.

I had one last Christmas present to ship today. The post office opened at 9:30; I arrived at 9:34 and still had to wait in line for forty minutes. The man in front of me apparently only knew three words of English, but was dead set on mailing bread to a foreign country in a garbage bag. The man behind me smelled like feet and...

There was a boy at the Rufus concert that had very bad breath, but I didn't have the guts to tell him that he needed a breath mint. You are a stronger woman than I.
lowroller:
ooops .. I think that might have been me. I've since bought a toothbrush ... and soap.

Is it possible that there is someone out there who is that blunt. Awesome! smile

Fantastic. I just sneezed oatmeal.

Happy breakfast.

In my experience, most musicians are shorter than I expect them to be.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I worked as a roadie for almost a year. I gotta say ... most aren't very grounded either.

Josh Homme from Queens of the Stoneage was pretty cool though. But he's very tall smile

I am a big name dropper ... kick me heh.
lowroller:
I noticed Shihad was one of your favorite bands. How cool is it that they are Shihad again! I understand their dilema ... but it's good to have them back all the same.

Four hours of sleep. Awesome. I wish just once this week I could actually come home after work and relax.
archernu:
I actually had the opportunity to sleep last night, but my body ruined that: my feet were twitching so badly that, just when I could feel myself drifting off, I would wake violently to the sensation of being stabbed in the foot with an electrified cattle prod. It was fun. I even managed to scare my roommate -- who was convinced that I'd gone into a dream battle with the ninjas of a rival writing clan. My only guess is that I'm wicked anxious.

I hope you get some quality shut-eye soon.

I haven't slept well since October. My place has this heating, er, issue. 50 degrees one night, 80 the next, for the past two months. I used to think sleep is for the weak, but now I think foolishness is for the young.

Last night I dreamed that little foxes were taking over the world by mating with everything that would stand still long enough. This morning I have a headache.

I long to dream -- even about lustful foxes. Unfortunately, sleep is usually required and I've had little.

Friday I'm going to drink until I can't feel anymore.

I walk at the end of April, but I owe eight credits beyond that. I'm looking into finishing remotely, but truthfully it's all up-in-the-air right now. Clarion or an offer of employment (Dare I dream?) would monkeywrench all. *shrug* That's the best I can tell you for now.

I've decided that I'm coming out that way for vacation in March. Yes...Yes, I'm going to Coffee News and Leviticus in March. Then all will be wonder in the world of Dan.

I drive by a lowered Volvo station wagon with rims, chrome, spoiler, and tinted windows every day. It's painted burgundy. It makes my Volvo station wagon feelsad.

But not as sad as a blinged-out Kia Sedona.

Too funny.

I am so sick of holiday sales, holiday shopping, fighting crowds and traffic just to get through my daily routine. I'm so sick of hearing Christmas music every fucking place I go. If it weren't for these things, I might actually enjoy the holiday season.

When will the Great Unwashed learn to shop online?

And just because I want to, here's another picture of a...

I don't mind the actual Christmas music so much as the horrible bastardizations used in various commercials. If I ever meet the folks who write Old Navy commercials, I will kick them all in the crotch. mad

You work in retail too? No, wait--you don't.

Therefore you can begin crying me a freaking river any time now. bok miao!! robot

I just realized that I've put my underwear on inside out three times in the past week. I'm beginning to wonder if my brain is getting enough oxygen.

Yes, I did see your strawberry hat, and I'm jealous. It's adorable. I've made three hats (in a really hard brioche pattern)--two of them need much work, and the third started unravelling on me on the last stitch, but I didn't know how to fix it! I really wish I had a grandmother or mother close by to show me how to do things. Maybe I should look into Vogue Knitting...
mck:
Yeah, I write, too. I have a pitch for a series in with a publisher at the moment, actually; just waiting on whether they like it or not.
