And for the record, it seems a little off to assume there isn't life in that far-off solar system just because there's a lot of debris floating around. I don't know what they know about the size of the meteors/comets/asteroids floating around, but it takes an awfully big one to do the kind of damage that has caused mass extinctions here on Earth--and if you'll notice, those weren't actually able to kill off everything. And the mass extinction that killed the dinosaurs wasn't even the worst this planet has seen.
