It really is a portrait of my inner monkey (see my pics), well the feminine inner monkey. I never thought about whether my inner monkey was gendered or not. And would that make my inner cat (the angel to my monkey devil, the cat ying to my monkey yang) male?
This throws a monkey wrench into my works...

I don't know if it's possible to know, being a non-black person, if a non-black writer can write black characters. I just write and let it flow--it sounds like that's what you did, so I wouldn't sweat it. I tried to think of examples of it working, and I thought of Fortress of Solitude by Lethem--but I think he has an edge there because he grew up in the same environment as the main characters, so he was essentially writing for people of that economic/social world, and less for their skin color. But that's what brought me to the question--I think it was a realistic portrayal, but how should I know?
I certainly don't think anyone should shy away from it, that's for sure. And I don't think you should ever censor yourself over fear of offending someone.

Dude, if you go, I can pretty much guarantee you're going to have a rad time. We had so much fun here in SD. Seriously.

I have this deep residing anger lately. Like everyone gets on my nerves as I look at them. They all just want something, they yearn to HAVE. That's it. It's like their entire fucking world is consumed with wanting and attaining and I have to sit at the edge of a black hole and see it suck the universe down....fuck.

You did give me a Graphic Smash comp. It works and everything--I've spent the past week working on my final projects, which that story is a part of. It's called Space Boy vs. Alterna-Girl. I've looked at Vigil a little bit, but I'll really be able to dig into the site after my projects are due this Thursday. Then it's three weeks of rewrites, submissions, and comics--then school starts again.
I talked to another artist I'm working with and we want to get a table at San Diego this year. You're more than welcome to come along--we can TAKE OVER THE WORLD.

Just make sure you keep up on your vitamins..it took me three tries before I could go without flesh and not get sick...going veg does NOT mean just eating pasta. DOH!
Gotta appreciate the creative outlet...I think I need to find a new one...

I really, really want to pick up Palomar. My brother got me the Alex Ross/Chip Kidd book "Mythology" for x-mas. I wouldn't have gotten it on my own, as I'm really not a huge Alex Ross fan, but it's pretty neat for inner-nerd in me. Which is usually also the outer-nerd as well.
