Man. 5 weeks and 4 days till we get out of this place. Sandhurst is hard work, no doubt. Sometimes the hardest thing is just keeping morale up and facing another day. You become very good at seeing all that's best in the day. And ripping the s**t out of your mates.
You've got to take it one day at a time. Get up, find...

Dear Tax-payer,
Tonight, I have mostly been experimenting with drink. I have had 1 x pint of go go juice. It was everything but tasted of Orange Juice. I created a new drink as yet unnamed consisting of cider, white wine, white Bacardi, Vodka and ginger beer. Along with the beer, whiskey and ale, I am now inebriated.
Why am I telling you this, sweet...

harleen:
I find it so annoying when it does that! Rubbish, you can never remember whatever amazing thing it was that you were saying.
bracket:
heheheh nah i dont get too social with "the local sg community" besides im spending here half of my time theres no need to raise a meet just fo that

So here I am once again. 2315 and I've got to be up at 0530. Instead I'm drooling over evette again.
I have to conduct live fire ranges tomorrow. People may die if it all goes wrong.
O well. Evette's worth it.

I take it you are still in the factory then bud? Hope it's all going well for you. How did your letter go, by the way, are you still going to the arty?
lofty:
It didn't no- I'm still in! Decided it may be best to take a posting instead, recharge the batteries and take some time away from the regiment- 8 years is a long time on ops and exercise! Working in Glasgow recruiting now, 2 year job. Good to hear you are pretty much there now, not long to push at all! Enjoy the next few days, speak to you once you're back.
Dear all,
I live on an Army base 24/7. I get out of this base about once every 2 weeks for a day or so if I'm lucky. I wake up at 0600 (at work) and go to bed at about 2300 (still at work). I consume 6000 Army calories a day and I'm currently using Army internet. What's my point?

I worked in firearms communications for the police, so I can have very basic firearms / radio talk conversation. After that, I know bugger all about the army

harleen:
Sending firearms officers to incidents where they may need to shoot someone, and saying 'xray whiskey 13, code 1-2-1' quite a lot.
I like the tank. Is that pink smoke? Very girly.

Right. I'm looking around and I'm thinking... I can afford a bit of Suicide Girls. I can flick through gigs and gigs of net porn (seriously) but never will I find the... yeah, I'll say it; the beauty that is held these volumes. And then there's my friends. Yeah, facebook is ok. But somehow... Maybe it's the lack of sex constantly in the peripherals at...

How do you know a boob will never hit on your girlfriend? Some girl may come along with huge hooters and start chatting up your girlfriend?

Woah. I'm back. I think. I might be in limbo. I'm not sure how I logged on just there. Am I paying for this? Who knows. Right. I'm going to check out evette before I get kicked off. One sec...

Welcome back!

Another exercise out of the way. Ex Marathon's Chase. What a fucking struggle. And struggle I did. Shit on the 12km tab out of the danger area with Company radio on my back and shit with being fed up everyday. I really do wonder if other people here hate Exercise as much as I do.

Just thought id drop a line to say alright pal, and hope all is well. Hows things going?
I'm trying to write a personal statement about what I've achieved at Sandhurst, why I'm suitable for the Royal Artillery and why they should take on a dapper chap such as myself. I don't want it to be boring as hell like most of them.
Any suggestions?

When I wrote my personal statement for uni i tried SO hard to make sure that i never used the word "i" (apparently it's frowned upon) - it's tricky, but it does sound more formal when you avoid it.
good luck!

As a member of Arrse.com, i'd not post it there as you'd be surprised just how easy it is to work out whos who there, no doubt half the regt you are writing to, and half the training staff aswell will be members! hehe
Id also not bother with the letter, instead send a lovely one to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
Easily done, just enclose a copy of your subscription to "country life", and a picture of your favourite polo outfit, and they'll snap you up!!
In seriousness, I'd try to focus on the the level you feel you have developed during training, focusing in particular along the lines of how you enjoyed facing fresh challenges, and, no offence here, by the way- play on your age, too. from my assessments of subbies arriving at my regt, id imagine your one of the older men there, so use it to your advantage- life experience prior to joining, level of maturity, that kind of thing. Basically, make it hard for them to think of a reason to NOT take you.
Wish you luck with it mate, all the best.

The rest of our officers are pretty good overall. The majority seem about as Scottish as myself from the accents, but are generally all good as soldiers. My last troopie in Recce was a great fella, only aged 26 and a bloody captain! He had already done Sqn 2iC on Telic 7 aswell- the phrase "flyer" springs to mind!
RE: My sister- Yes, there are often comments made from lads seeing family photos and the like. None of the boys have met her, and I fully intend to keep it that way! Not really too much to worry about with her really, as she is very family orientated- the first things she tells potential boyfriends is that she has a 6ft skinhead tank commander Iraq war vet for an older brother, and that her dad is an ex- Royal Marine Commando Falklands vet who now does Royalty/ Diplomatic protection. I don't think she has any risk of being badly treated!
