So I got in superlate last night after my plane was delayed... and delayed... and delayed. Yeah, so my plane was late. Anyhow, in my gibbledness instead of setting my alarm on my usual 24 hour time, I set it on am and pm... I woke up this morning when I was supposed to start work, wondering why my alarm didn't ring. It was set...

Best to you and Mr S for 2006
I'm leaving in a few hours to visit surlyclown for 4 days. I'm looking forward to it in so many ways. I still haven't figured out what the hell I'm getting surly for xmas.
I've had a few ideas, but they all seem supercheesy. The most likely to make surly happy idea that I've come up with is also the least romantic: take surly to...

Indeed the Holidays are a sticky wicked.
I've been sorta floating these past few weeks: wallowing in my deepening WoW addiction, dealing with various messy guinea pig things, despairing in the increasing lack of daylight. On a positive note, I'm truly enjoying my pen and paper weekly game, AND I answered 50 letters to Santa at work.
I haven't got around to the 20 questions thing. I will think about it (honestly)....

Say what? I had no part of it.
The only thing I was guilty of was drinking heavilly and crashing in the guest room.
-I suppose I provided moral support of the drinking involved which inspired the call, but that's a fucking stretch, sister.

On Friday I got my mom to go to the doctor I went to two weeks ago. He changed her bp meds and now she's feeling a gazillion percent better, even after only two days. She's got a followup appointment this week, so it looks as if she might actually get the medical assistance she needs. Needless to say she's also much nicer to be...

Hardest Things to Do In This Existance:
-start flossing
-stop smoking
-give up WoW.
Sonicare's are the best! I've had one for about two years now. Dentists can fix the gum-line though. They do some freaking test and then do that magical dentist shit and make six hundred dollars poof from your bank account and your choppers and damn tops!

Hi!
thanks so much for the comment on my set, hon!
thanks so much for the comment on my set, hon!
so I'm at home for another family day: my mom's not feeling well today, compounded by stress from an issue that's making me wish I had power of attorney to simply deal with things and get them over with.
I went for a walk last night and bought some groceries. It was minus 15 fahrenheit with the windchill. The air was so clean and the...

I want to be in Canada, with you.
Actually, though, it's very chilly here too (not minus 15, but y'know, it's only l'il ol' England...): I was driving home tonight around 9pm and the streets were eerily deserted for a Saturday night, like it's just too cold for people to venture out...
I like the cold. Always reminds me of a line by Garrison Keiller talking about Minnesota:
'In the cold weather, the immune system sends a message to the brain saying: 'DIE!' and the brain replies: 'Hell no, we won't go!'

My mom's been at her sister's farm for the past few days. It's been nice to have my place to myself again for a little bit.
My mom and I have been combative pretty much as long as I can remember. Our personalities don't really mix. It's been interesting having her live with me for the past year, to say the least.

I think your right but it's weird places. I hang out at are not places you normally talk to people like the library or at work, and the gym(I hate talking to people at the gym). But hooking up at bars is just not the best of idea's anymore.

i'm glad you are doing well... rest assured you are certainly in my thoughts as i wander a little aimless these days.
perhaps i'll be a little better, soon enough.

So the pigs made it through the operation ok AND the vet bill was $250 cheaper than the estimate... How often does that happen? I gotta poke syringes into holes in their necks and flush it with betadine, stuff ointment in there and feed them all kinds of drugs, twice a day. Poor things.
Somehow on the way home from the vet I lost one...

So I think I'm getting a uti and both my guinea pigs have abscesses in their jaws from broken teeth and need surgery on monday to the tune of $800.

The trip was great, had a good time at the game.
I have a lot of those "to finsih" books lurking around. I'm trying to get through Emberto Eco's Baudolino right now. It's not going too badly but I do find parts a little slow.

I'm feeling completely self-possessed, confident and happy -- wait, maybe I shouldn't examine this, just enjoy it rather.
Despite going to bed after 4 am, this morning I woke up in time to go to an early matinee of Good Night, and Good Luck. Autumn here makes one feel alive. I enjoyed walking to the movie theatre, watching people dressed in sweaters out walking...

I've read (& heard) glowing reviews of Goodnight and Good Luck - it's next on my movie-viewing agenda

Last night I got back from the second of two trips I took this month to commune with the grand surlyclown. I arrived home on the redeye and barely slept after I got back to my apartment as I had another stomach attack. I went to the doctor today, and he says that airline peanuts, tomato juice and coffee arent the greatest combination for...

Yes, I am using 'the K-hole' in full cognizance of its significance for ketamine users, not that I have ever tried it myself (nor would I want to, given what I have heard), I just find it funny to use this loaded drug slang to describe a crappy little town where 99% of the residents have probably never even heard of ketamine...
My ex K's cat Kitty just died. He was put to sleep last night after the vet said he had bleeding on the brain. K's brother is in town, and plans to scatter Kitty's ashes in the forest behind the house we all used to live in, the forest Kitty used to roam and hunt in. Kitty loved staying out in the forest, even when...

Kitty. one can hope we all can have such a life.
thanks for the birthday wishes. these things coming from you are a cherished thing. good luck in LaLa land, please remember i wish for you the best.
you know, we haven't corresponded for long, and we've not spoken much, but i still am very happy to have connected with you at least a little. since we first conspired to know each other, we've both seen a lot of radical shifts... i hope we both suffer the best that luck has to offer.

three days until I leave for LA.
In other news, I bought my guinea pigs a little stainless steel dog dish. The little dudes had been tipping their old dish over, and I was guaranteed by the petstore clerk that they wouldn't be able to tip this.
Last night, they worked together, and tipped it. *sigh* Cooperative rodent shenanigans.
