OK, so tonight's soiree was a lot of fun. Met other SG members, PoopyDave the intrepid organizer, MoHollywood whose coolness and advice in the art of turning your body into art is invaluable, werewold27 who was only there briefly (well he was at the first joint) but was totally cool nonetheless, Elfin whom I didn't get to talk to but whose smile was absolutely devastating...

I'm in a weird spot - I love what I do (the whole marketing gig), but I hate my job (the specific company and circumstances). It pays the bills and will last until I can find something better, so enough of me bitching. It's been extremely busy, but today I was able to spend a few hours meeting with the execs at my top vendor....

It's always nice when you can stick out a crappy job long enough to get noticed a little and have some of your ideas taken on board. That happened to me last year, nobody took me seriously until someone realised I made sense - cue a pay rise and glowing recommendations for the future.

I *must* get that Everclear CD, I have all the rest - looks like I'll be ordering it from the states again - it'll take ages to ocme out over here. smile

Yes! My hair is very Dolores like... smile

I've got a project for you all...

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to go check out whatever music downloading service you use or frequent and search for the song "Formulae" from the band JJ72. Yep, it's spelled with an e at the end. It'll only take a few minutes, give it a spin. Whaddaya think? Feel free to comment, and suggest...

Martin Gore's "Counterfeit2" solo album due in April (28th in UK, 29 in US) Go here for more dirt and audio samples (woohoo)

Dave Gahan's as-yet-untitled solo record is due June 2 in...

I remember buying Counterfeit and thinking, "what the hell is this shite?" Then it grew on me. Plus, i was a little nappy kid - i didn't have no afro back then 9sorry, i had to quote that) - and i didn't understand what a 'cover' was.

Wow, I'm really out of the DM loop. I had no idea about Dave.

Alan is still my fav.
kid_607_evil_ins:
You son of a gun. Now I'm back, hooked on the DM site. Damn, I forgot how much they can make me want to leave my life and want to be Dave Gahan.

Those Martin songs are great. I love how they really retain the demo quality.

Grammy-time... sad, isn't it? The state of the music biz, that is. There are some truly amazing artists out there and with all the great innovations in technology you would think that business would be better than ever. But the mindset needs to change on the business end... if I'm really lucky, I'll have an opportunity to be a part of that change.

Meanwhile, I'm...

Clash tribute. All good. Probably played better than it should have been, but I thought it was done really well and it was a good mix of artists. I got the vibe that each one of the participants was involved for one reason and one reason only - they fucking loved The Clash.

Dude LOL U R insane...and i love it LOL

yeah, if you read my post on ckmfd's journal you'll see how my geekyness over sean beaven clouds my judgment on Manson material...Anti-Christ Superstar is basically a NIN album.

So that was just a bucket of strangeness and awkwardness. Allow me to explain, then please feel free to throw your own comments and advice out there...

I just spent the last few hours playing Diablo online with my ex-gf. Back when we were together we'd play it together (2 computers in the same house etc) and would have a blast, killing shit and yelling...

Seasons don't change, they just glide through my eyes
Like a serpent in the sky, tempestuous love passing me by

God damn I love that song.... I wonder if the neighbors love it now too? Maybe I should play it some more LOL

What song is that?

thanks for the nice things you said. smile you're right about pretty much everything, including my self-issues. *sigh* in all honesty, i'm glad this happened this weekend with them, because i really needed that final straw to break my back... it's too easy to brush aside the smaller things even though you don't realize that they pile up, too. cheers to my new life with new friends.

saw in someone's journal the other day that he listed a few things he wanted and a few things he needed, then people made out their own lists. I know it's unoriginal, but I thought that was cool. Here's my current list...

Things I want
- To be better at expressing my creative side
(lots of ideas & inspiration, along with lots of laziness)
-...

that interview is hilarious. i'd love to meet that guy. so you really used to come to my little town huh? you sure you aren't thinking of gibbstown? i didn't know anyone that didn't live in the town actually knew where it was

oh, you worked at microwarehouse? i think just about everyone on the east coast has worked there at some point. what'd you do there?

Yeah, I'm a loser, but I'm all bummed about the end of a show I like. The last Buffy will air on May 20, how terribly sad. They say that some of the characters may turn up in other shows, but the slayer as we know it won't be resurrected again and SMG isn't coming back. And to cement that into reality, I read in...

i didn't know it was a mutual breakup. everything i've read has leaned towards the band kicking her out. and you're right, neither has done very well.
just a sec...

ok, i'm back. sorry, was just taking a draw off the oxygen tank i've been carrying since i found out about buffy all of 2 minutes ago. you've seriously got to be kidding. that show was like the only thing on tv worth watching. now i'm bummed out.
rosinflux:
it would be interesting to see a new show, but it really won't be the same without sarah. i too loved the movie, and was a little hesitant about a tv show, but when i heard who was playing the lead i tuned in to the first episode and haven't tuned out.

Not entirely a bad day,,, work is such a clusterfuck right now, I'm actually too busy to even properly hate my job. After working from 7:30am to 7pm, I was down to only 323 unread emails. But I got a lot done, worked on a number of ads as well as got a lot bought and managed to get my hands on some hard to...

Ahhh - comfort food and relaxation... slice and dice and do some pot roast & potatoes, though too lazy to make something breadlike or do anything other than a canned veg.

I suffer horribly from temptation you know. A35mmlife's tantalizing suggestion of both the rock and the roll music is calling CALLING my name... And I've done the math, I could totally catch a short...

First, let me tell you that it wasn't my poetry. And if you would like to critique the author, you can't. Kerouac's dead.
I do thank you for the concern. I have been pretty down lately, but not enough to off myself. This site has been a great outlet for my negativity, but I think that I'm starting to wear on people's nerves.

Dear god in heaven, what have I done? I checked out a friend of mine/coworker as he was spinning at a tiny little place in Manhattan Beach. Yeah, a Wednesday night. He's been working his ass off on a demo, and wanted to stretch out a bit in front of a crowd and it was the first time I got to see him play since...

uuugggghhh. i hated the last few hours of work after a night like that... just barely holding on... then getting home and starting the cycle all over again wink

i function on like 5 hrs a nite... its just the way it goes... ive given up on trying to adopt the 'other' lifestyle... you know, the whole 'normal' thing *rolls eyes* who needs it!?

i know lots of house djs. its a hard world to break into and the money has quickly vanished from that industry (except for a select few)...but boy, do i love me some house music... *dances*

hope today wasnt tooo rough...
