Tired, but I can't sleep. Been trying for half the day, no luck yet. I love this song to death right now, seems rather fitting too. Maybe Milla Jovovich can sing me to sleep...

Time for an update. First off, I'd like to say that today just might be fucking perfect. Well, weather-wise. Earlier I was sitting outside... bright and sunny (though I was in a shady spot), the sky a wonderful deep blue, just all sorts of awesome.
Friday was another rough day at work. I'll spare the details, since you all know what a rough day at...

So who ended up with my pass?
nageboorte:
Oh, I agree it was as good of an idea as any. It wasn't really the idea that was the throw off, just too many people like.. or so I rekon. Fuck, well done for being a good mate and bringing in some people during the low season, that's fucking top notch.
<p>
Next event. Fingers crossed.

Ugh ugh ugh... wound up working until after 8. On the plus side, traffic was fairly light. If you were on the 110 and saw a red blur whiz past you heading north... that would have been me.
It's still new profile pic week over at Cineman's journal. He's just got a new digital camera and is being all photo-whore-tastic. Help him with that....

it was excellent meeting you as well. it was kinda nice to actually talk to people in real life (imagine that). the only regrettable thing is that i was so enthralled in talking to everyone that i didn't see much of the lovely voltaire. she's always been one of my faves, but that girl is
. i came home with a purse full of singles that were intended for her. maybe i'll just have to pay her another visit sometime soon.
i have actually never camped at coachella. for me, it's all about the hotel room for several reasons. mainly, the concert is rather exhausting (desert heat + 12 hours of damn fine music). so it's nice to have a shower and a bed to go home to. and we have hung out by the pool on sunday before the show, which is very relaxing before we go and do it all over again. also, the camp grounds are pretty strict. no alcohol or drugs - fascist bastards. and they search everyone's gear. i don't know how thoroughly though - i imagine some particularly motivated individuals manage to smuggle in some contraband. but it just strikes me as a pain in the ass. also, depending on how many people you put into a hotel room, it's not much more expensive that camping. especially if you just do 2 nights. we're just driving out there sat morning - we have done that in the past and it has worked perfectly.
i already reserved a couple rooms in palm springs. i like staying there (about 25 minutes away) as opposed to indio because there are some good bars and restaurants there. and all of the hotels that weekend are pretty much infiltrated by the coachella crew so there will likely be post-parties anywhere you go. i'm going econo-style this year at the vagabond inn. i got the rooms for $55 on sat and $45 on sun. very very cheap. even in comparison to comparable hotels it's very cheap. unless you're going to go the resort route, i would recommend it there. other hotels that are just slightly nicer are going for $150 per night. no matter what, i would recommend getting a room asap as many hotels are already sold out and many others don't take reservations (first come first served).
ok, i just called the vagabond and they are nearly all booked. the exact room i have is now $109 on sat and $60 on sun (and there are 8 of those and 3 slightly more expensive rooms remaining). you're welcome to take over the 2nd room i reserved if you'd like. i got it as an extra one for the last-minute stragglers. otherwise, the coachella site has a listing of hotel info.
whew...that's one long post. hope the info is helpful (and coherent).

I need minions... please step up...
First, go check out the profile for my friend Cineman. He's finally broken down and gotten a digital camera, and finally managed to put up a modern profile pic (I think his old one was from the mid-90's lol). Show him some love, and see if you can talk him into doing some kind of ridiculous and/or hilarious...

So I just got "Reality" from Bowie today (when I got my new digital camera). All I can say is DAMN! I stand humbled. And to think I ever considered myself a musician.
Hey: since you have all the hot female friends (he says tongue in cheek: though it's true, it's not my main motivation for posting), I thought maybe you could spread the word that this week is officially New Picture Week at my profile. I finally have a few up that are brand spanking new and look like I look today - yay. Check it out when you have a chance!
And a few of us are discussing that thing I mentioned in March. More details forthcoming as they congeal, and I may be asking you for your thoughts on an after-party where we could invite more folks. The screening thing has to be kind of small, due to room constraints and security (it'll be on the WB lot) and whatnot...
Okay, gotta run. Rock hard and rock on! -- Cine

Good eye, dude! Yeah, that's "Gitta", as she liked to be called. And the hair-band dude (next pic) is Kip Winger. My bro used to roadie for him back in the day. Kip is (surprisingly enough) actually a very talented writer and player: he could've been Cat Stevens in another life.
Do you like Ryan Adams at all? Yeah, I know he's a punk-ass bitch, but I am really digging the "Rock and Roll" album, obvious lifts (from T-Rex, The Smiths, etc) and all...
I think your Bowie comments are right on the money re: his position in the business and what it affords him. Must be a great place to be, huh? about fucking time, after his relatively lean years!

Look at you sex-pot.
No, a professional friend shows up in jeans and a bag full of pot or beer and knows a lot of good jokes.
I am so happy that you haven't done your taxes.
Hope the fall doesn't break anything.

Oof. I should probably check that. I just woke up.
Edited to say this bit right here at the top... I may just be 375 kinds of drunk right now... well 375ml kinds of drunk at least... damned vodka - i accidentally drank half a bottle, that stuff reallyburns. It's probalbly for the best that I'm not Russian, now that I think about it. And let's see... Bondage Ball Friday night, Bowie on Saturday night...

I'm just riffing on the idea of a guy who keeps getting hit by lightning - not in a real-life story way, but in a magical-realism way.

I keep thinking somewhere in Colorado or Wyoming. That's lightning central. Maybe pick up the thread of Tesla. Or someplace non-specific. But definitely a lightning-filled prairie...
Finally getting the laundro whipped into shape tonight. Someone was on the machine the other night, and I only got in the barest of essentials (the coworkers need never know how close they were to full frontal trilo haha)...
Finally got the chance to hang with PoopyDave last night, his crazy schedule let up and he was kind enough to invite a few people over...

heyoo. well, all i can say is that there's lots of people who are worse with the friend bit than you'll ever be. i don't think anyone's gonna hold it against you.
i'm a little behind on the picture-posting craze for my journal, but i have a feeling you'll enjoy what i've got up there now. take a looksee and see if you can solve it (knowing you, it'll take about .2 seconds.)

Night off... I need to do some laundry, my day job isn't clothing optional you know...
And some fucker's been using the washing machine all night. Dear Bastard Neighbors, please finish your goddamned laundry!
I also have a bunch of other things to do, so I should be avoiding the SG surfing. Need to do some cleaning, need to do some writing, need to do...

anytime!
An epic turn of events, and despite a grueling day at the office, I'm in one of the best moods ever. My last few days, weeks, months, have been shrouded in a haze. I've been restless and in a funk. I've hung out with friends and been as social as I could be, but let's face it I've been a real melancholy motherfucker.
