'To those who use Atheist as a dirty word'

I hope no one gets me wrong.
I hope no one thinks I loathe the light
(or - that I know all that's right).
Far from the truth, I claim only my love to be strong,
and I'm amazed and justified every time I hear
of some ful-of-wonder person completing
an act of able-love - human...

Here is my latest short story.. I put a lot of effort in to it. I wanted to write something that was entertaining, but meaningful/important.
I know the subject matter will turn some people off.. but that is ok, that is what I am trying to do. I am trying to point out the Consequences...
I hope you enjoy.. I appreciate all feedback, it makes...

Life is scary. Life is strange. Life is funny. Life is beautiful.

Last week my grandmother passed away, and for the week leading up to her funeral I was in a state of shock. I was conflicted at my feelings over her passing. My grandma was a tough lady. She was totally old school in her beliefs. She was a devout Christian who never missed...

Here's an older poem I haven't posted yet..

Safe Sex

I made love to her when she wasnt looking,
when her back was turned I fell pen to paper
and composed this poem like an act of passion-playing.
I took my time to drink her up;
and like a bourbon shiver down the spine,
her ravenette beauty inebriated the best of me
into a fervor...

My two most recent poems probably wont apply to most of the people on this site, but the subject matter rings close to home on some level..

'A good Catholics Comedy'

Sunday, they preach of fire and brimstone
and nonbelievers mixed
with all shades of sinners.

Down where Ghandi wails for God,
as a tempest below dizzies
Shakespeare forever in disarray,
and only a few...

(this was written with inspiration from a friend who HATES pennies and the folksy brilliance of Carl Sandburg)

A Penny Saved Is A Penny Wasting.

You don't have to go far in America
to find a penny discarded on the ground,
even heads up it's still stepped upon,
this penny makes me ponder, is this America?

Citizens argue that the penny is waste,
7 billion...

"Purdy"

...a purdy girl came in light camo
and washed denim, jangling my way
with her baggy legs swishing against another
in some, hypnotic, and, subliminal, way,
she turns away before her face can truly grace,
and instead Im hammered by my hearts fervor
as her hair cascades over her shoulders
in the descent of a burgundy waterfall.
She disappears round a corner,
only to...

quick note...

Team Sleep, Chino's (deftones) side project....is awesome.
After waiting years and years it seemed for this album to come out, it finally has. Not sure if it is at the store yet or not, I think I have an advanced copy because a couple tracks are cut short a few seconds.
However, that aside, the this is great music. Imagine the rockin mellowness...

*closes eyes*
you know that feeling you get, when you are listening to some really good music, and everything around you is all right.
That sort of, disconnection in one way and a unification in other. Ya let yourself go, and ah, it feels so wonderful floating with these notes...

When I go outside to take my "chill" time, (IE: smoking, my journal,...

GIGO
Garbage In. Garbage Out.
Greatness In. Greatness Out.

A speaker at my college use that term earlier this semester when he was talking about motivation, and I realized that was a good summary of how I try to live my life.
Because when I was in senior, and I was just really starting to deal with my health issues and my "place" in the...
