He was using it as a reason as why you should vote yes, but the fact is that we already bring the state into religious affairs; we may not do it with Christianity, but we do it with other religions. I do get what you are saying though, and agree that the Church does have a right to marry who they want -- Much like how a restaurant can refuse service to anyone, the Church should have that same right.
