Things I now own which I would never have thought I would own:

A pair of Seven jeans
A pair of Calvin Klein jeans
A pair of "skinny" or tapered leg jeans
Something made by Juicy Couture (eyeglasses for the record)
Prada perfume

With the exception of the glasses, these were all obtained either used or from eBay, so it's not like I've been shelling...

Gucci Rush IS gorgeous and I LOVE the bottle-doesn't it remind you of the blue box from Mulholland Drive? My only complaint is this-tell me if you experience this--is does NOT last. For nothing. I can never smell it. I've taken to just spraying it on my pillows sometimes before bed when I want to enjoy it. On my skin? Nada & it bums me out.

I don't think I have smelled these others but I did see the Lolita on my last Sephora trip. Here's my list of good recommendations:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Bvlgari pour femme
Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel
Stella, Stella McCartney (this almost knocked me over. It's BEAUTIFUL, the best I've whiffed lately)
Fendi (whichever the latest is with an image of a brick building on the bottle)
Marc, Marc Jacobs (I personally don't like the Daisy)

That was via my last trip. Some recent little ones I had picked up/gotten which I recommend are Calvin Klein's Euphoria, Ralph Lauren's True Romance and Baby Phat's Golden Goddess. Have you whiffed Gwen Steffani's L? The bottle is gorgeous and it's my favorite of the entire last year. I want to bathe in it. When I got that they gave me a sample of Miss Paris Hilton's Heiress and I was shocked to find it's gorgeous. I really want a bottle. blush

In further obsessions, I recommend Ebay snagging Todd Oldham's fragrance. It's from years & years ago, I believe he only did one but it remains one of my treasures--it's really sexy.

Always hit me with new recommendations-ha! Yes I definitely wish we could have girl shopping together! Anytime you're in Noo Yawk!

Have you ever read the Brando trivia on imdb? It's incredible, hilarious and shocking. He was such a classic lunatic! I love reading these atrocities for a genuine laugh. He was so damn sexy.

Sometimes I feel like a fake vegetarian; I was one of those kids who detested meat from day one. I have these friends who made grand sacrifices to do something they thought was right, and I feel like all I did was the equivalent of not voting for Bush[1].

Sure, its a good thing to do but it wasn't exactly out of my way.

Love the new picture!

Nothing seems like that big a deal right now.

I had a good christmas. I was dreading seeing my family because there's some really lame stuff happening right now with them, and I was afraid it would make me super depressed, but everyone was so happy and high energy that I just baked and drank coffee the whole time.

I stuck to my resolve for...

Oh, by the way, I'm still obsessed with The Cars. My man put some Cars on the jukebox on my birthday.

I watched Unlocked. Did I already mention this? I can't recall. I watched Unlocked and that Rhino Records live DVD. The former was superior. It made me want to get Panorama and Shake It Up. Amoeba has both on vinyl for way cheap....

I'm with ya on the Cars thing.

Welcome back.
jayenh:
The first time I saw The Cars, it was on late night NBC way pre-MTV, one of those Friday night shows in a period when there weren't any late late shows. They played "Let's Go" and ... probably ... well I don't remember. Must have been about 1980. I kind of still remember it, bunch of geeky guys playing in this ultra spartan setup with crappy almost monochrome lighting.

A list of some things I've been thinking about a lot:

  • Nachos.

  • Raymond Carver. Been reading Where I'm Calling From over the last few weeks.

  • Why do the driers at the laundromat that's only 3 blocks away suck so much?

  • I am tired of not trusting people but trusting them would be stupid.

  • I need to finish my book.

  • Sometimes knitting makes me feel okay...

now I'm thinking of Nachos.

I've been to the Uptown 3 times now and I really like it. It probably helps that my friends are the owners but those bartenders sure are cute. Finally, a reason to go to Oakland!

I've recently stopped shunning all aspects of sports. I am still really not into pro football, especially since the Vick thing surfaced, but other pro sports and college sports are kind of interesting I guess. Going to see live games at least is somewhat fun.

Of course this belated non-hatred comes years too late to make my sports- riddled childhood any less boring. Sitting through...

skeksi:
Vick is human garbage and pro football should not be held accountable for his deplorable nature.
skeksi:
You're at least partially right but I wonder if the garbage actions of a few taint the accomplishments of the rest. In any group, when the press gets ahold of any negative aspect of that group, they capitalize on it in order to sell more papers, get higher ratings, etc.

Regardless, I really enjoy the strategy and competitive nature of pro football, so I'll continue to absorb it as pure entertainment on a surface level. A lot of things that I like would never hold up to any type of close scrutiny if I took the time to analyze them, and sports is one of them. Foremost thing that comes to mind is the fact that athletes are grossly overpaid in terms of what they actually contribute to society.

Ever been to a roller derby bout?

Holy crap, my set went live.

So I know this set has some blurry pics and stuff. BombshellBetty was still learning when we shot it and we had very low light. However I'm overall pleased and I'm glad I have a set that features more of my posterior.

I declined 45 friend requests just now. If I declined you it's not personal, I just don't...

I had to put my cat to sleep today. She was dying of kidney failure. She was five and a half. She was rad. A few weeks ago she killed a pigeon.

Well, that last entry was kind of abortive so here's a better one.

I just watched Escape From LA. At first my thought was "This isn't completely wretched- it does still have Kurt Russell- but it's not really a fitting successor to EFNY." Then the basketball scene happened. Holy guacamole, what a piece of shit. There is so much that sucks about this movie....

I was stoked to see him in it, I just couldn't get past everything between the action. I wanted to fall asleep. Soldier...now that's one that won't bore you with poorly written dialog, but only because there isn't hardly any in it.
