A few years ago some of my friends road-tripped to Nawlins for X-mas and had a blast. They brought their own tiny battery operated Christmas tree (did you think I was gonna say dildo?!) for their hotel room to keep in the spirit of things. (There was no snow.)
I have always LOVED traveling during the Christmas holidays.
