So, spent New Years with good friends, which is how it should be. Found a nice drinking balance, so as not to destroy myself as I have previously in December. Got to observe someone else's personal soap opera. Much better to be a fairly sober watcher than actually be involved...especially after the naughty night of passion they were going for was lost in her slightly...

So, just got back from Social Distortion at the House of Blues with rawr_ima_monster. We indeed drank a little...erm...a bit. The couple next to us was pregnant, so rawr bought the man a shot of Patron because...well...his sperm was fertile? Either way, they were quite nice. The show was awesome...they played a ton of old songs and one incredible new song called "Bakersfield." They...

Ah that Wiltern show was the shit. I was right down in front for that and got mushed into a sweaty punk-rock tortilla...and this girl next to me kept putting her hand in my pants too.
hmm...now you got me wanting to go check the Dickitmaster site...

sounds like a good show.
So, Christmas was good. Picked up Trixel at LAX on Saturday. Expected terrible traffic, but none was to be had.
Had a nice evening with friends. Had to run out all superspy-like when I realized someone got me a gift that I hadn't expected. Oops. I can't abide by not reciprocating something, so we found a liquor store open for 30 more seconds and the...

I'm glad you had a nice time. Trixel is the best, I can imagine the rollercoaster of the comings and goings.

I applied for a job in LA, and I really hope I get it. I used to not like LA at all, but now that I think about it, I'm really really sick of cold weather and snow.
What's it like to live there?

So, spent 7+ hours yesterday driving, parking, jostling, standing in line, cursing, spending too much money and otherwise being ground into a fine powder. Then I spent another two hours trying to wrap everything. I'm still not done. I actually dreamt about it.
Bah, humbug.

It's all over now. Don't worry about, it will only take till next year to get over it.

gram parsons is fucking amazing.
So, got totally wrecked on Wednesday and am still recovering. Seems when you combine an international array of alcohol, it means trouble. Sure, Tequila (Mexico), Jack and Cokes (USA), Sake (Japan) and Irish Carbombs (Ireland...ahem...EU) may be fine on there own...but when combined, it's like the UN, a good thing in theory, but mostly an inefficient, yammering nightmare.
I tell you, there's nothing like having...

I love you.
So, went to the Arclight to see the 12:01 showing of King Kong at the Dome last night. It is a great movie. The best, most fully realized downright soulful CG character ever. Some great, jaw-dropping action as well. The movie isn't without its problems--it is too long by far for one--but it is a very cool flick.

So, went to a holiday party on Friday. Ate, drank and was merry...even though the main topic of conversation was a certain aspect of my future. So, I've spent pretty much the entire week examining what I really want to do and focus on in my life.
Turns out being an ostrich isn't helpful to anything or anyone...a continuous lesson that I may one day...

certain aspect of your future? was it marriage?

Thanks to Columbia's incredibly late exam period, I have not been able to attend hardly any holiday festivities. Except for lesbian karaoke, of course.
Good luck examining what you really want to do, and I hope you figure it out.

I'm sure I've put this in my journal before, but recent events in my life make them all the more relevant.

That's very cool. Good for you, man. You deserve it!
We need to get a group of us together this holiday season and watch each other's films, right? Wouldn't that be fun? I think so, too. I saw you mentioned as much in T's journal.

So, my old cell phone seemed to be dying, so in the interest of a nice juicy write-off before years end, I got a new cell phone. One of those sleek Moto Razors. It's black...like my soul.
Anyway, took a picture of one of the cats with it. That's pretty cool. (It's my first phone with a camera.) I just need to figure out how...

That's only the best Homer Simpson line ever, along with "I saw this movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called 'The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down.'"
So, blah, I don't want to keep last night's minor meltdown there. Feeling slightly better, didn't sleep well last night, but then took a nap today with a cat sleeping partially on my head.
'Walk the Line' was good. Johnny and June rule.
It's windy today...like so windy I looked up and saw dust clouds coming off the mountains.

it has been windy as hell. I'm glad you're feeling better.
So, I feel lame and useless right now, about my life, about myself and about my current job. I'm floundering and I don't know how to get out of it. And it's always nice when those things are pointed out to you via email, while you're stuck in someone else's house with nothing of personal comfort anywhere nearby.

I'm sorry to hear you're in a rough spot. ...Floundering... that's a perfect way to describe some things I've been feeling lately. I hope things turn around soon.

No tequila, but it was a fabulous Turkey Day, nonetheless.
Sorry to hear you're feeling blue. When I'm feeling like that, one of my best friends likes to remind me that "another day above ground is a fabulous day." Pithy but true.
