I'm loving GTA! I drove around on a lawn mower wearing nothing but underwear, cappin' fools as I listened to Willy Nelson sing Crazy. Is that a Lynch moment, or what? biggrin

Yeah, I built the house from a kit a while back, but was playing around with the macro setting on my camera the other night. I was pleasnatly surprised with the results.

Ahh the weekend. This weekend I actually went out. Yes as in outside the house. The hermit has emerged from his slumber. Went to a friend of mine's photography exhibit, drank much wine and talked entirely too much about politics (Nov 2nd please hurry so this can all be over with). Didn't buy any art but found that I could trade some of my own...

I fucking LOVE Thundarr. I chased down a few episodes on an old VHS tape. It still rocks!

I did a little digging about a year ago to find out who owns the rights, hoping that it might be reesurrected - even got to talk to Joe Ruby. Unfortunately Warner Brothers gobbled up the rights and is just letting it wallow in oblivion. mad

I haven't updated in a quite a while, so here goes.

I've been pulling ten hour days at work for the past couple of weeks. Lot's of stuff going on and lots to do. Our product is going to be featured in "Meet the Fokkers" and we expect our business to triple. There's lots to do to prepare, so I have been putting in extra...

Ah, Stuzz, Stuzz, Stuzz... Are we really to have the great Wrath of Kahn/Search for Spock debate? tongue

Now I love Kahn, don't get me wrong. Obviously there would have been no SFS had there been no WOK. Some have made the case that they're esentially two parts of the same story. Some even include Voyage Home in that story... (Though that's one of my least favorites, and I try to ignore. Yeah, I get into plenty of arguments over that.)

Anyway, I just think that SFS boils Trek down to its most basic element: the charcaters. One of its strengths is that ALL of the characters actually do something, and they do it in to save their friend. Nobility is always great fodder for drama.

All the traditional elements that tended to shape Trek's story structures were abandoned. This isn't a story about exploring in the name of the Federation; Kirk and crew are defying the Federation. This isn't about life on a starship; they blow the Enterprise up. (One of the most powerful moments in the movie.)

SFS doesn't shy away rom the metaphysical. One of my problems with later Trek incarnations is the "sterility" of existence. There's nothing that wows because at the end of the day, everything is just a "neutrino flux field," or some such bit of techno-jargon.

SFS actually dealt with the idea of a human soul and what that means to the concept of loyalty. The Vulcans, for all of their logic, are still mystics.

So, that's why I proudly shout that Star Trek III: The Search for Spock is my favorite in the series, damnit! biggrin

Please, whatever side of the political spectrum you are on, write your congressman about this.

This is NOT what America is about.
tiberius:
Hmmm... Not to make light, but the first thing that popped into my demented little skull was Dr. Klahn exclaiming, "Take him to detroit!" wink
tiberius:
So where ya been, man?

I'm sorry you lost your cat. He does sound awesome. Very beautiful also. It's hard losing a friend you've had for so many years. I'm sure he'll be the coolest cat wherever he's going.

Dear Tech Support:
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Racing...

Sigh...

This week has been a sour week for me. Having trouble sleeping so I'm cranky at work and I can't seem to get over the feeling that my life sucks ass. I'm feeling incredibly adrift this week and not centered at all. Then again, I quit smoking weed last sunday. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I'll get over it. The weekend...

I found a virus on my machine the other day. A keystroke logger. Fuck!

I don't know how it got there. I am pretty good about keeping shit off my gaming machine.

I changed all my passwords, across the board, reported any credit cards I had used on the web as stolen, and changed the passwords to some machines at work I had logged into...
