Feeling: old. The drag king act I was working on got us through to the next round of competition. (By "us" I mean the performer, technically. I devised the routine, she actually did the thing!). This is good news as the prize is $1000, which is exciting. The theme for next week: Song from a Movie. Should be easy, yes. But looking around the audience...

I'm with you on "Greased Lightning" thing -- it seems like a great Drag King song precisely because it's sooooooo self-consciously macho and guyish (boyish?).

(Some of the lumps could well be my students too. wink )
arachnequarius:
mysterious, no? yeah, i did not know that my account was up so quickly, and missed out on contacting persons such as yr fine self, so here i be.

mmmmmm, most drag king like goodness in my own experience has been sort of 80s-y as well. although, do certain movie retain cult status? god - i am old too. smile good luck with it!

Taking: it one day at a time. We're staying together but we're aware that if it doesn't work, it'll be time to let it go. I am ready for either outcome.

Thanking: everybody for your supportive comments. It really is nice to hear other people's approaches to this kinda stuff. You people rock. Yes, you.

Moving: on to other news...

Helping: a mate with a...

much love and good luck for what you are going through. I wish you the best. I do hope it works out for you both, if that is what you want.
Drag King act.....hell yes. Unfortunatly, LA does not have as much of a diverse lesbian community, or at least out there in the open. San Francisco and New York you can catch a good drag king act. I wish we had that here as often as elsewhere. Sounds like you have a fun project to work on.
I too, am looking forward to summer. Do you have any big music festivals or cool happenings coming up End of July or August? I want to plan a trip with my girlfrriend to a foreign land around those times.
fanny:
Hmmmm..... I could tell you where I work

But then why don't I just put up my real name and home address for all those wackos out there to see too

wink

Let's just say it's one of the most internationally renowned acronym's that related to the combination of two of the world's favourite mediums

Cryptic enough?

Coping: but only just. My GF of 3 years cheated on me last Friday night.

Realising: people can surprise the hell outta you. Even those you know and love. Maybe that should be "especially those you know and love"

Squinting: crying (all day yesterday) makes my eyes hurt so bad I can barely read the screen (today).

Editing: this to add that you could...

a cheater

it depends on the situation. was it a one time.....I got too drunk and I fucked up and never want to see the person again?----who knows, this is real bad but maybe things can be worked through.

or was it a friendship/realtionship that started up and went on for awhile and then they fucked once or many times. ---if this is the case, the trust in your relationship is probably ruined for good and resentment time kicks in. sadness, madness and all of it.

I'm really sorry girl. I got cheated on and replaced some years ago, and then mind fucked for over a year and a half with my ex contacting me, (while she was seeing the new girl). It is the most pain I've ever had to deal with and the longest pain. Worse than breaking my jaw. Worse than anything. I felt like depressive death. I finally cut her out of my life and fought to be happy again and move on. Time spent with friends and meeting new people, experiencing new places to hang out etc, and movies/music can help you.

I can say, after all that shit,I finally found the right girl to be with. I'm now with the love of my life. So there is hope even if it feels like there isn't. take care.
kiss

i'm so sorry this happened, sweet sprat! i hope things work out soon.

Ticking: off every-fucking-thing on my To Do list for today. Take that tasks!

Reading: Alex Garland's The Beach. It's better than the movie apart from the lack of sexy blood-splattered Robert Carlyle.

Writing: an account of eating at a "Blind Dining" restaurant on the weekend. You know, you eat in the complete darkness to experience how a blind person experiences a meal. Full on....

Any job, huh? Hmmmm....
Well I have two:
1. A professor at a small liberal arts college where there's an emphasis on teaching, not research. Preferably at Evergreen State College. It's one of the coolest schools ever - there are no letter grades and the coursework is specialized to what you want to do. For a professor, that means that you can teach really cool courses! biggrin
2. A cute little homemaker for some hot girl. Seriously. Then I could just do some writing at my own pace, when I wanted, just for fun. And I could clean and cook and she'd be happy.
cece:
i think covergirl made my black glasses. they're my cheapest frames, but get the most reaction.

i'm actually waiting for a new pair to come in that are black on the top and clear on the bottom. they're very hot.

Re-reading: The Passion - Jeanette Winterson. I love Villanelle. (Most people do.) But I love Henri more. And at the moment, I'm identifying with his mother.

Preparing: a lecture for next week. 50 minutes on the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras for 160 first year students.

Eating: 3 meals a day with chopsticks. Yes, that includes brekky.

Developing: a crush on a member. Seriously....

i actually shaved my head once before, and it WAS actually very awesome! it was summer, too, although i think there would be a certain freedom in winter because you can wear great caps and never have hat head. (even bald i'm girly as fuck). if i do it again, peechurs will be made. smile

i have found that in the virtual, gender goes somewhat under erasure. it is very bizarre, but also cool. i try as best i can not to start thinking butler, but she always springs forth. said member would be lucky to have sprat crush on him! biggrin kiss

I'm so glad that you're educating other people and opening their minds to new ways of approaching the world. smile
For a few years I was teaching anti-homophobia education in High Schools. Very rewarding.

Thanking: Oryx for my newly cropped profile pic. Feels and looks a lot more like me now.

Re-reading: Life of Pi by Yann Martel. It won the Booker for a reason - it's damn good.

Wearing: more layers. The weather's cooling off for the year. Me likes.

Appreciating: the comments I got from my supervisor on the chapter I'm currently writing. Apparently my writing style...

the problem with using that pic for your profile is that if you want to include your face, you cut off your hair....

and if you want to include your hair, you miss most of your beautiful face...

Ahh, thanks! He is doing better already!

and I`m just sooo glad it's over! smile

Reading: what I wrote yesterday.
Editing: what I wrote yesterday.
Writing: stuff that I will need to read and edit tomorrow.

Realising: my life is repetitively repetitive.

Spending: Easter writing. I'm still on that damn history chapter. Although I'm finding it more interesting that I expected, it's still slow going and not that huge a part of my thesis. Nonetheless, if you write about an event with a 27 year history, you have to cover some of that history, at least in passing.

Preparing: for our anniversary tomorrow. Three years! Three...

Shivering: with cold. It's raining outside and I got wet between the bus stop and home. But I like the cold you get when you've been in the rain but aren't any longer.

Shivering: with excitement. I had a good tutorial today - my students really got it and I felt like we'd made real progress. I love when you can see in someone's eyes...
