I spent an hour or so yesterday talking to an American expat. Her view was that the USA was too "conservative" (her word, and I didn't question it) to elect a black president. I don't know who she'll vote for, but she never bothered before (she has never been in the USA in an election year, so she's never registered); this year she's thinking about it.

It takes about 20 minutes to get to work via car (without traffic) and an hour and a half-two hours via bus. I don't have a car so you can figure out my way there. Next year the train will start up and it'll get me there lickety split.
