I watched Poltergeist last night. I was going to go meet SGNY (and former SGNY) at Ace Bar, but I had a bad day at work and the VSLF was going off to work (she's working nights for the next few weeks) and all I wanted to do was hunker down.

So, anyway, I hadn't seen Poltergeist since my parents took me and my sister to see it at the theater when I must have been, oh, seven years old. The tree monster scene gave me a subsequent fear of gnarled, leafless trees that lasted for the next five years. Okay, fifteen years.

Anyway, that's a pretty good movie. What's creepy is I got a nosebleed while watching it. I thought my blood looked so cool dripping into the sink I took a few pictures of it. I didn't tear my face off (like the assistant ghostbuster in the movie), however.

Tonight we're going to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Though I thought Human Nature was merely pretty good (another Kaufman/Gondry creation), I have high hopes for this.

(They filmed some part of it near our apartment. If you ever see a film crew, one way to find out what's being filmed is to look at the parked vehicles. They're required to have film permits clearly displayed, which always give the name and director (and sometimes the stars) of what's being filmed.)

(Which reminds me of one time when I was watching some filming at Gramercy Park. It was too dark to read the permits on the dashboards of the cars, so I took a picture of one with my digital camera. A woman standing nearby gave me a fairly alarmed look. I looked at the picture later and discovered that I had actually taken a photo of a parking ticket in a car that had nothing to do with the filming.)
