Yeah.... I've already learned that OWNING a restaurant isn't something I'd wish upon my worst enemy (well, at least not if I have to work there...)

I had a really sweet job at a small asian style fusion restaurant... the owner was really close to getting into the black after about 1.5 years... and I was starting to look forward to the idea of working there full time as his 2nd cook....

Then 9/11 came to NY, and all hopes of going black turned to RESTAURANT CLOSURE. frown

Oh well.... the casinos are hiring cooks... looks like I found me another open door.

Good luck in Portland!

Good question. Are there waves where you live?! wink biggrin

It's funny. When you are caught in indescision fate will step in and make a descision for you. My restauant, for reasons beyond my comprehension has been closed. We were busy, I thought we were making money, maybe cold feet on the part of those who hold the pocketbooks.

Now I have nothing to keep me here. I'm leaving, and soon. Goodbye bay area, hello...

I've been annotating Nietzsches "Birth of Tragedy" and a river of ideas came to me while reading what he has to say about Sophocles's "Oedipus Rex".

"The profound poet tells us that a man who is truly noble is incapable of sin, though every law, every natural order, indeed the entire cannon of ethics perish by his actions, those very actions will create a circle...

YOU: For some reason the last bit about the shooting star makes me feel very meloncholy. To me, the shooting star is a might have been, a could have been, a regret if you will. A reminder that this moment is perfect. If only i knew why such a beautiful thought makes me feel sad...

ME: I don't know, but I have to tell you, I was feeling pretty damn melancholy when I wrote it.

ME on ethics: I know what you're saying...and to a great degree, I agree, but I also think people killing people is bad...so where does that leave me? Shackled and bound, I s'pose.

I have often wished to be free of the bonds of morality. But I am too much of a Fool to burst free of those shackles.

I have not read any Nietzsche in years. Or any other philosphy. I really should. I remember enjoying it once upon a time.

Yesterday my head was buzzing and my thoughts were a blur, my mind was everywhere except work. I kept going back to one thought; I am still afraid. I have just gotten better at pretending that I'm not. The difference this time is that I freely admit that I'm afraid, but I will probably still run.

The strange part is that I am still absurdly...

I love San Francisco. I've been there a couple of times.

That's weird that you put that Dylan quote in my journal. I just learned how to play that song yesterday. I was playing it for hours.

Yes, I will happily admit I live a charmed life. I do my best not to take any of it for granted. Very happy to hear that you have been in a good mood lately. biggrin Now, what were those questions?

In my time of dyin,
I don't want nobody to moan,
the only thing I ask of you,
Is to take my body home,

I'm off to the mountains for some fresh air and alot of red wine. I haven't been to Yosemite for ten years. I wonder if it will still hold the magic it had for me as a child.

Alough if you drink enough wine everything has a magic of sorts, no?

For those of you that have been bugging me to send you bits of my novel, today we have a teaser if you will. Less because it is ready, and more because my head is a vaccum today.

Today as I was coming north I saw the salinas valley open up before me as I passed Paso Robles. For the first time i saw with...

On sunday I got paid to ditch work, and sit at the brewery next door. Followed by a totally irresponsiblr evening, keeping very strong mixed drinks in my reach-in refrigerator and Irish Car-Bombs in the walk in. Made a food critic happy, worked two stations all while drunk. Life is good. biggrin

I shall return to my regularly scheduled depth and seriousness tommorow. wink

My Spanish. Well, to be honest, it is not coming along quite as well as I had hoped. I understand everything, but my communication skills are dead lacking. The truth is, everyone here speaks perfect English...and it's a curse I tell you! A curse! wink I must find non-English speakin friends in Argentina!

I hate you.
