Please, Don't Say

Please, don't say that it's me you miss.
Words such as these can only sting
My tortured soul and bring
Me to the brink of the dark abyss.
Please, don't say that it's me you need;
These words my battered heart can't take.
Your professed longing only makes
Its raw and festering injuries bleed.
Please, don't say that it's me you love....

William Shakespeare was a dirty pervert. As evidence I present the following from Romeo and Juliet. Act I, Scene I.

SAMPSON
A dog of that house shall move me to stand: I will
take the wall of any man or maid of Montague's.

GREGORY
That shows thee a weak slave; for the weakest goes
to the wall.

SAMPSON
True; and therefore women, being the...

My ear hurts. Now my relatively new and healing tragus, as one would expect, but the helix I've had forever. I don't know what the deal is; it hasn't bothered me in years. It sucks.

I've decided there's a Beatles song for every mood. If you're down, there's one for that. Happy? No problem. Heartbroken? Hey, we've got one of those too. You name the...

It started raining on my way to class. I had stupid flip flops on and when they get wet, the flipping and flopping is INSANE. I'm glad I didn't fall and die.

Let me tell you about the town I live in (or near, anyway). It's not too far out from Minneapolis, but it's small. About a square mile. In the beginning each township throughout the country was surveyed and allocated sections 6 miles on a side, but the surrounding cities have gradually eaten up the area from the one near me.

Despite this, it has two...

Bah, I guess. You fall out of both. I don't believe people who are in love forever. Just doesn't seem plausible. Maybe by the time they are out, they are resigned to the situation. I don't know.

Oh, I have a car, I just want a nicer one.

It's finally Friday!

Apparently my contract - you know, for the job I hate - may be extended until the end of November. I could refuse, but then I'd need to find another job. And I'd hate that one too, as I won't be happy until I go back to school.

So it looks like I'll be working until the end of November.

It's also...

Here's the product of part of my afternoon. The part when I should have been doing the company's work, but was really working on my own projects.

Always give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Uncertain, because they dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
But everything worth loving is
Really a...

No, you're right. But I think the difference is that there are some people we choose to be responsible for, and those people are okay with me. If I have decided I want someone in my life, then they're there for good. It's the people who just decide that they're in your life without your consent who really bother me.

So I've had to take action as far as the whole MathGirl situation goes. This involved writing her about what exactly my feelings toward her are. (I know - I too feel that writing such things is inappropriate, and they should be done in person and all, but that just wasn't possible.)

In my experience this is never a good idea.

But we pretty much...

Ooo, bet you're wonderin' how I knew,
'Bout your plans to make me blue.
With some other guy that you knew before,
Of the two of us guys you know I love you more.

Bleak days, my friends.

Last night I was trying to think of a simple math proof that I've done a million times. I didn't work on it long, but it should...

"Why do I write bad poetry? Because I know that if I try to write bad poetry I can surely succeed. But if I try to write good poetry I might fail."

I wrote that down in my book of clever things I have heard. smile

My back is killing me! Sitting in a chair all day aggravates it; I've known this for a long time, but there's no helping it. My job requires that I sit in a chair all day.

Stupid office jobs. I need something where I can get up and do stuff and not get bored!

I think I may go to the lake this weekend. I...

This is the best day ever!

sophie:
hello!

it's been a very long time.

i had to read all your recent journal entries in blog style (or however you say it) to catch up on your stuff.

when i was working on my MA at SFSU i almost enrolled in a certificate program for technical writing. there are some very lucrative positions in that. i didn't, but i totally empathize with you about having to edit and basically help rewrite a 500 page Software O&M Manual. sometimes at my current job i have to edit a 100 page document and i think it will nearly kill me with the inanity of it all.

did you like the shot of Cryptonomicon in the video? did you like my helpless attempt at seeming intelligent? pretty funny, eh?

what is one wonderful thing you're looking forward to right now? other than flying to PA?

kiss
sophie:
oh and i meant to say, like a long time ago, but now again:

CONGRATULATIONS on your NEW JOB!!!

that is too excellent! i know cube-life sucks. sincerely, i know it all too well. but it can help you do many things; like travel, afford your own apartment, pay off debts, and somehow afford gasoline!

way to go!!!!

You all know that I really try to put at least one positive thing in each of my journal entries in order to not look like a self-pitying wretch.

But it's difficult today.

With work, and MathGirl, and my friends having kids, it's all just kind of slowly wearing on me. I'm down today.

Not that my friends having kids is a bad thing; I...

More bad poetry today.

We Who Can't Forget

Could I ever presume
You might ever need me?
I'm not special really.
Yet this is my doom.

But how much I need you!
You make my life better,
Help me see things matter.
Now what am I to do?

You've flown from my embrace
And left me little hope.
I think somehow I'd cope,
But I'd...

I love coming home at 5 in the morning. I used to do that on the weekends in college all the time. I would be drinking wine with my friends or something, and then suddenly we would realize the sky was getting light. I just love night time, and being with people at night, so much more than the day, that when it's a weekend and I have that opportunity, it's hard to let it go.

I was a loser in junior high. I doubt anyone was pining for me then.
