Happy birthday...

...Sir Isaac Newton!

And merry Christmas, everyone.

I feel good today. Better than I have in a long time.

She told me she loves me.

And not a friendly, platonic sort of thing. A "can't live without you, you're my everything" sort.

She told me she loves me.

She also told me that because of this, she can't speak to me any more. I didn't take this seriously, as I don't really...

So I just had my earlobes stretched from 18 ga. to 10 ga. Four holes. Really, it didn't hurt as much as you might think.

All that jewelry was pricey, though. That hurt.

She left with words to the effect
That my future would be better
Without her, or hers without me.

My life since then makes me suspect
The latter; I'm not any...

Sick's Christmas List

  • A turntable - direct drive, not belt-drive

  • A harmonica - Hohner Special 20, in the key of C

  • A visit from MathGirl

  • MathGirl's boyfriend's head on a stick

That's about it. There are also some books and CDs I want, but that list gives the main items I'd like.

And, since I got no response yesterday, I will repost my question:

(Note:...

Ok...I have a question. What would you all think if someone you know sent you an email containing the following poems. Nothing else; no explanations, greetings, anything.

Would you know what to make of it? Or would you be confused about how the person feels?

Philip Larkin - Love Again

Love again: wanking at ten past three
(Surely he's taken her home by now?),
The...

I recently had to make a Top 10 Songs list; songs that are my favorites, that I feel are most important, etc.

You can check out my wonderful taste in music here: My Top 10 Songs

It was so difficult to choose just ten! There are so many more things I wanted to include.

Bonus points to the person who can tell me what, in...

My hands are so dry. They're cracking, pretty nastily. It looks like I've been cutting myself.

I have to stop washing my hands so much. Easier said.

My hand-bound book is nearly finished. I'm about to paste the edges in a few minutes, then I have to let it dry overnight. Tomorrow I'll paste the endpapers, more overnight drying, and it's done. Then in the...

I have way more books than that. They just aren't on that particular shelf. Books are most of what I have.

I re-read High Fidelity yesterday. I like that book, though it makes me sad. Or do I read the book because I'm sad? Why am I always able to relate to all these neurotic characters in books? It probably says something about me.

I hope that someday I write something as ironic as High Fidelity, though. I'll have to get on it right away....

it's a very very good book. i suggest you read Dry next though. it will make you laugh, but not in a way that clashes with the melancholy.

That's exactly what I do! I try to sound academic, I use very little specifics, speak of the overall period in generalities, and use REALLY BIG WORDS, as well as sprinkling phrases such as, "Ultimately, this lead to..." "Overall, this caused..." "The lasting implications of this event were..."
and I regurgitate their notes, and CITE THEM. Always gets an A.

Why do things always have to be so difficult?

He's not right for her. He expects her to become a housewife, stay home, push out a bunch of kids. She'd go insane with that life. The worst is that she knows he's not right for her; this isn't the life she wants. But she things things will be ok. And she knows she's being ridiculous!...

I have nothing but misery to report, therefore I will write nothing.

Maybe things will be better tomorrow.

MathGirl called me today! This is a reversal of the usual order, in which I call her. This turn of events makes me feel good. I was at work, of course, and my phone was off, so she left a message...but the fact remains.

The drive to work this morning was dreadful. I live 15 miles away. It took me an hour and a half...

Couldn't sleep last night. I went to bed at 11:30 pm, was up at 3 am. I decided I wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep, so why even try?

I spent an hour or so responding to MathGirl's letter. I wish I could post the letter I wrote here, so you all could see the types of things I write, but...

Well, unlike Brett and Jake, we could have sex...

Lets go to grad school together and get married.

Yeah, actually... I sort of am.

Crazy.
