"I'm sorry," I said.
She laughed and responded, "You're not at all sorry."
"I didn't mean I'm sorry you broke up with him. I meant I'm sorry that you had to get hurt."
Oh...did I say bad news? She seemed to be taking it well, though. However, it may mean that I won't...

That used to be my favorite Bob Dylan song.
Hopes exist to be crushed. It builds character.
Either way, it does sound like a positive letter!
Do not persist 'til times are done,
But over the course of many a year
The circling stars to each other near,
And in this fashion
Finally come together in fiery passion.
every thousand years
this metal sphere
ten times the size of Jupiter
floats just a few yards past the earth
you climb on your roof
and take a swipe at it
with a single feather
hit it once every thousand years
`til youve worn it down
to the size of a pea
yeah Id say thats a long time
but its only half a blink
in the place youre gonna be
where you gonna be?
where will you spend eternity?
ok, it's not quite as poetic as yours.
Poor Molly Millions; every maker of a cyberpunk movie in Hollywood has ripped her character off.
would you be so kind as to tell me some of these movies, apart from Johnny Mnemonic? I guess The Matrix pretty much, but then again, that rather ripped off the entire book, don't you think? Molly's hot.
If given the technology, and the chance, would I choose to create a personality construct of myself? Would it be a means for me to outlive my mortal shell? Or would it be a crude mockery of the person that I am?
i think by definition a personality construct of a real person can only be a crude mockery. real humans are just too complex and unpredictable. even the predictable ones.
can you help me understand how Riviera does his deal? is it some kind of special software he had installed, or a highly evolved human ability?
Step 1: Get MathGirl to speak to me again.
Check.
Now what do I do? I must be patient. I have difficulties with this.
I'll be ok. I'll be ok. I'll be ok.

There are odd balls all over the place. But there are many beautiful, serene, picturesque villages and towns all over Britain, with lovely hospitable and generous people living in them.
But of course, there are the grotty parts full of arseholes who's main goals in life are either to win the lottery, and/or trying to find ways to increase the benefits they receive from the taxpayers, one of which is to have several children. More children = more money apparently.
Anyway, it's high time I got some beauty sleep. It's way past my bed time! I might turn into a pumpkin if I stay up much longer.

So, I tried to create something people would want to read, and comment on. Needless to say, I didn't have much luck with that.
Fuck it.
Things aren't really that bad, though. Work is going...

As my twenty-fifth birthday approaches, I must accept that my life is a study in, if not mediocrity, then unfulfilled promise. I am a good musician. I am a good writer. I am a good mathematician. But I am not great. I was given an abundance of talent, but not the spark of intense passion necessary to achieve true greatness....

How about "pedantic"?
(PS, I love these words because my Algebra lecturer has used them in the past, and when some numbnut asked him what the words meant, he gave a sarcastic response and then went into a talk about how this was a course on Algebra and not English Literature and that maybe there were some people in the wrong lecture theatre.
Algebra IV: Groups & Rings
Probability & Statistics
Linear Programming & Optimisation
(and a unit in French cos I'm studying for a degree in Maths with Modern Languages)
The algebra is difficult, but exhilarating, and it's made all the more worthwhile by the sarcasm and attitude of the lecturer.
School is good. I was fortunate enough to be able to save up enough money to leave work and study full time. I plan on doing it again at some point later on in my life, but maybe not as a full time student.
The two that showed up were submitted electronically, unlike the missing one. So when they told me one was missing today, I thought I would just have the remaining professor submit an electronic form. No luck; I originally said he would...

Other than that, it's a long weekend. That's good. I still don't have any plans for New Year's. No one to kiss, either, but that's nothing new. I'm almost positive that I'll survive.

It's not good, anyway.
