Today I remembered I'm living in Wisconsin. It started out unseasonably warm and pouring rain and now it's freezing and snowing. This is what I have to look forward to until June.

I passed by several malls today and decided if I'm going to be doing any x-mas shopping at all this year it's either going to be online or in my neighborhood at the...

I love being a chef for alot of reasons. The funny thing is that I was cooking for thirteen years trying to figure out what I was going to do when I grew up and one day fell in love with what I was doing. I had some great mentors who opened my eyes to what the profession was about. Somedays it's pure drudgery, some days it's the best job in the world. I feel lucky that I like my job most of the time. Anthony Bourdain is my hero. I've read all of his books. His fiction is awsome if you're into the kitchen. Sometimes when I come upon a problem at work and don't know what to do I ask "what would Anthony do?" Right now I Chef of the kitchen where I first learned how to cook in 1982. ARRR!!!

Oh yeah, I don't think I would ever want to own my own place. Odds are against success, I don't want to work THAT hard, and I would go insane. Partners with the right person maybe. Percentage owner with backers yes. outright owner, no.

Just a quick entry before I leave for class. I posted a new picture last night...the best one I could find. Now I'm looking at it and obsessing because I have those stupid Mardi Gras beads on. I hate those things. Mostly I hate the people who tend to go in for that kinda thing. It's just obnoxious. I happened to be at a New...

I felt like a total retard trying to get my first pic to work. Finally did it and wanted to change it immediately. Yours is fine. Yoga nidra is a guided meditation in savasana that is very specific in the pace and order its done. Alot of guided imagery and it involves a sanculpa (sp?), which is a spiritual resolve that you wish to manifest in your life. Like "I will achieve my spiritual potential" or " I will practice for the evolution of all beings" etc. Sometimes it's something you have in mind, sometimes it is something that spontaneously manifests from deep within you. It's the best. I just bought a CD from the Tantra College of America and played it for my class because I don't know how to lead one yet. You can also get one at amazon, just search for yoga nidra.
namaste.

I just bought a Jack Kornfield beginning meditaion CD because I have never developed a regular sitting practice. I think that yoga is meditation in motion but that sitting allows a deeper insight. I heard someone say that if somebody says that their spiritual practice is easy or fun, they are either lying or not doing it right! I work in an Italian Restaurant next to the strip that has been here 33 years.

So Sunday is almost over and it is nearly time to go back to work again for another week. The only good thing is that I will be off for an entire week in no time at all. It is a laid back, mellow evening...just having a little eggnog laced with Dickel (Merle Haggard's whiskey of choice -- yes, I'm a fan, of both). Speaking...

I guess we are lucky here but I was just complaining last night. We have 3 astanga studios, a Bikram, Iyengar, plus lots of others that mix it up including anusura and kundalini. Way more than when I started 10 years ago. I'm driving out to Boulder City this morning to practice with the teacher who I've practiced with the past nine years. She is who ecouraged me to teach and recommended me for the job at UNLV. It's a cool class because I have the same group of people twice a week for the whole semester. So we start at point a and go from there. One day we'll chant the whole class, another I'll discuss ayurveda, some days just a vigorous practice, on the last day I did yoga nidra. It's fun. peace

I have a special place in my heart for any person that can appreciate Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, The Replacements, and the Stiff Little Fingers. smile

I'm just guessing on SLF ... but judging with your musical taste they gotta be your kind of band.
