This weekend was a little more tame. Friday, we had our show at the Old Towne Pub. It ended up being pretty cool. I was a little apprehensive about potential Pasadena republicans and being told to turn down, but neither ended up being a problem. The show went well. It was HOT. I was actually blinded by my own sweat at one point. Foster had...

Barely survived the weekend. Helped Nick move his stuff on Saturday. It was creepy. She was so detached and removed, we could have been the plumbers for all she cared. Of course, we can't move someone without drinking beer. So we started at like 1pm.
Then, we took most of his stuff over to the Punk House and continued drinking there. Just a few though....

I love Audrey Tatou. I never saw Dirty Little Pretty Things, but I still want to. I'm sure I could Netflix it.
The Punk House is a house right in front of Dodger Stadium that has been inhabited by a number of old punkers since the late `80's. Many a drunken fiestas & fiascoes have taken place there. Some of them we can still remember. Nick lived there for about 15 years before he got married and his wife done f'd him. Now, he gets to move back in. Just not his old room.
Good news. I actually have an interview on Monday. It's for working in the machine room making dubs for the Milken Family Foundation, a non-profit supporting the furtherment of education and medicine. Unfortunately, it's a temp job of indefinite length, but it's worth a shot. Right?
Thanks for the support, sister.Who knows? Maybe this will turn into the perfect job for going back to school?

hurrah! it's good to hear that you're on your way to employment. and that you had such a fine weekend that weekend. cool beans.
Beat to shit. Just got back from a 3 hour hike up to Mt. Hollywood w/ Nick. It was hard at times, but really good for my knee. Nick was a fucking mess, but that's to be expected for a guy going through a divorce who's been drinking for the last two days. I figured let him beat himself up and spill his guts. When...

This is the same as my bike, but mine's white and doesn't have the luggage accessories. It's an `88 BMW K75c. It will run forever. It's not the fastest bike, but is very low maintenance because it has a shaft drive instead of a chain.
I should really get a digi camera so I can put photos up more easily. Then, I should take more trips with the bike. I've only taken it to S.F. and Portland. Assuming I get a job soon, that will all change.

what psych course are you taking? an intro lower division course or something else? psych classes are fun until the whole class starts reading into the actions of everyone they encounter and psycho-analyzes them, usually incorrectly -- it's the psychstudent-know-it-all-syndrome, and i can't say that i was immune to it myself.
thanks for your input on my journal. most people are not as lucky to be as seemingly laidback as yourself. nothing wrong with being a hippie, or being like a hippie. they have admirable qualities.

Had practice for the first time in six weeks now that Justin is back. Sounded pretty good, actually. I think we'll be ready for our show on the 10th.
Convinced Nick to get his goddamn ass outta the house & go with me to Elysian Park for a walk with a bottle o' $2 Chuck w/ crackers & stinky cheese. The exercise was good for...

Well, my OSX upgrade is just about complete. I'm digging it. iTunes is way better than what I had. Overall, it's faster & more stable. It's a little weird getting used to the new hierarchies. I'm also wondering at what point do I start trashing the old shit? It's nice to be current without having to chase the state-of-the-art.

I'm finally updating my rig up to OSX but it is taking FOREVER! So, i'm messing around on Nikki's computer.
Today has been pretty uneventful. Bought my book online for my psych class and saved about $20. Let's just hope it shows up before class next Thursday.

i haven't been to a 99 cent store in years. not b/c i have anything against them, i just haven't run across one in a while. they are muy bueno
i never buy my text books online. b/c i'm sick. i love the feeling of buying TONS of books all at once and carrying them home. buying books for class is just a good excuse to spend a lot of money on books. it's really troubling.

sidney bristow is the shit. my wife & i are 'alias'-obsessed. but i digress
anyway. no you're right - i prolly over-analyed the whole fan fanaticism. but it just really stuck in my head the other nite, so i started to analye. that's what obnoxious academics do.
post cards is a good collectible actually. my wife has a thing for matchbooks and key chains - for similar sorts of reasons: just a reminder of where she's been or a symbol of places she'd like to go.

Oh, my poor brain. Spent the whole day yesterday drinking with my buddy, Nick. His wife of 10 months has decided she "needs some time" & isn't sure she's cut out for marriage now. Since he moved into her place when they got married, he's had to move out. So, I have a roommate for at least three weeks and I'm happy to accomodate the...

Thanks to the people who responded to my last entry. Sorry I had to be so dasterly, but at least I have some friends now.
I'm still looking for work (sigh). The unemployment runs out the first week of October, so I feel like the pressure is on. I've been applying for all kinds of stuff. Mainly home theater installation. I need healthcare and at...

damnit, I' a westsider with intentions of overunning your neighborhood for the weekend. it's a nice neighborhood as long as you don't have to be there all week [too damn hot for me]. good to hear you're back up on the bike.
obd:
I think I'll be there on sunday.
SG is a great place to see enamourous women, but a horrible way to meet people. After three months, not one friend. Either I am a loser or I need to somehow morph into a hot, slinky SG. Then I'll have LOTS of friends...Whatever. I'm getting a beer.

thanks for the bike tips. I'll check that out for sure.
Adelina has the good advice posted. post in journals, join groups, watch the hook-up section for public SGLA events [most regional groups require attendance at a public event they will accept you]. Pay attention, it's not that hard to pick up on the site's little idiosyncrasies. This is a good place to meet people.
