From someone with experience in this matter...call the cops and get the order so there is documentation covering your ass...that way when or if he decides to do something else and you have to "defend" yourself everything is in order.
My last girlfriends ex couldn't stand that I was with her and not him so he did all sorts of stupid things...key my truck, phone calls in the middle of the night, ect. We cought him on the answering machine threatening both of us so we took the tape in and both got protective orders, which of course he violated. He spent ten or so days in jail and had to pay a fine and anger management classes (which again he had to pay for). He pretty much left us alone after that because the judge told him anything else would cost him big.

You have my complete sympathy. Once my jaw fell out when I was yawning and it keept on poping out whenever I chewed food on the right right side. Tthey never said that that could hapeen in school... what a surprise it was.
