Sadly, I think you are right. It used to happen to me all the time until about a year or two ago when I just shut myself down. I've finally come out of that, but now I get to deal with this again. Still, I think it's a good trade.
I've got some cool pics of small children and chubby programmers blowing bubbles and suchlike but since I'm in mid-reinstall of OS/Applications I'm gonna hold off for awhile.

It seems to me that telling yourself that you like your life is really half the battle. Some people are just restless, irritable and discontent by nature. I'm probably one of those people. There is a phrase, "Fake It Until You Make It." Some people don't like it because they think it sounds insincere. I don't take it that way. Like anything else in life, practice makes perfect. So I practice being happy and for the most part, it really works. Just for the record, my day gradually got better. I've still had better days ... but I've also had worse. Much worse. And now I'm home.
