More vehicular madness!

Offending vehicle: I have no fucking idea. It started out life as something fast and japanese, but with all the marques removed and the bolt on farings and the candy apple orange paintjob, I really couldn't tell. It had 4 TV monitors, though.

Thanks for the post after my dad passed away. I appreciated it.
All I can think of right now is the beach scene in Apocalypse Now but they're playing When The Saints Come Marching In instead of Flight of the Valkyries.

Hot as bejesus today, I guess someone decided to stick to that whole "Its summer 'til the 21st" jazz. Fortunately, I rather optimistically bought clothes that I can wear in New Orleans in October, which is also hot as bejesus.

If you keep up the driving reviews, you can formalize your role as a critic. Then everybody will be entitled to your opinion, even guys with cars so old that their market value alone could buy and sell you a couple times over.
But why single out the LA bus drivers?

I've been in some odd places, both figurative and literal, in my life, but I'd never considered that I'd be so grateful to live near a photographic supermarket.

Wow. That's downright conveniently small.

I'm ashamed to say it, but frankly retail therapy works as well as any others I've tried.

Just wanted to say I've genuienly enjoyed the discourse in the Red Cross thread. I've been following this pretty closely, mostly relying on NPR and the BBC. (Unemployment leaves me lots of time to read and worry about things.)
I'm trying my best to follow you through the thread. I had no idea about FEMA cutting the lines. No idea about the diesel ship. Maybe you could have offered up that info in a news post earlier. It's information people need to know.
It's a desperate situation and we're all scared. Hope all is well with you and those you care about.
Great Bragg line in the Hometown line btw.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone, I know I've been a little slack about responding to everyone, but I do appreciate it.
The good news is that at least as of Wednesday morning, NOAA updated its satellite path and I have pretty good 3 meter imaging and my house is still there. More importantly the roof seems to be intact and the back deck is...

Monsatrell tells me baton Rouge could use supplies;FEMA hasn't locked them down yet. I'm also aiming for rural Mississippi which looks to have been largely ignored by federal efforts.

I hope everything is okay for you back in NO.
I've been going through mood swings faster than cigarettes these days, and I've tried being pragmatic, and stoic and mature. I am genuinely grateful that my nearest and dearest are all safe and secure, and for the most part actually even comfortable where they've landed. I am likewise quite grateful that I'm an educated, middle class white guy with money in the bank and resources...

You seem to be doing well. I'm nowhere near the mess and it's hard not to freak out! I've been looking at the news and cannot believe my eyes. The response to this disaster has so far been absolutely disgraceful.
Please continue to let us know how you're doing, and if you know of any way to help. Donating to the Red Cross just doesn't feel like nearly enough. Volunteering for some local organizing of clothing and other supplies for shipment to the area once the chaos is sorted out, still not enough.
Heading into the streets and demanding the administration's collective head on a platter? Now that seems like a start...
