I am rapidly running out of palatable non-alchoholic beverages. Usually, its the other way around. This is quite odd.

Mini Update: Its three o'clock in the morning and my drunken neighbors are in the yard playing with poi.

I am not in Kansas anymore.

Batman Begins at 10, or the Goonies at midnight, or...

both perhaps.

What a rich life I lead.

Update:
Skipped the Goonies for being inconvenient, saw Batman. It was quite good, although I don't recall anything in the comics about Stately Wayne Manor being constructed from Duraflame logs.

Ok, I can accept that Texas Toast is in fact a size of bread, but what the fuck is "brownulated" sugar?

A little purple-haired girl called me "Sir" today; it was very disheartening.

On the other hand I have found a local source for Mexican Cokes and have discovered the wonderful weirdness that is Rap Snacks.

Theyre almost as much fun as WuNails.

So I've heard. Haven't really sought it out here in the US, never could tell a difference when i was in Mexico. But then what I was tasting more was the rum when I was 17.

Biking to class today? Really unfortunate decision.

Its not so much the rain as the lack of a posted No Wake zone.

For those of you who haven't experienced torrential rain in a city below sea level, I am not being even slightly hyperbolic.

I've camped in torrential rain in a city at sea level. After that there's no way I've got doubts about what you're saying. smile

Thanks.

It's a real frog-drowner here at the moment as well. Glad I don't have to head home until tomorrow.

Recently observed in my new domicile:

A 50+, amply proportioned woman in an electric paisley blouse going on about what a great time she had a the VNV nation show.

A casino with a fifteen foot tower of Coke 12 packs, just like the supermarket.

The Jesus is Lord Plumbing Company, hard at work.

Cops on Vespas.

Rain.

I really miss the quirky people in NOLA. Funny I thought LA would be more interesting.
fenris23:
You live in a cool reality.
I want to visit it eventually.
Mine is boring compared to that.

Ah, nothing like an hour long adversarial hearing with your nutty ex boss to really set the tone of your day.

Boo de novo review.

On the other hand its an absolutely lovely day.

Well? Or am I hallucinating and we were never friended?

Three words:

Mint Flavored Gin.

That it can be purchased, quite reasonably, next to Mama's Tasty Foods is just a bonus.

Thank you Lord for bringing me home.

So, this is New Orleans.

Still sweaty, but the food is good, and the shopping is better than it used to be.

It's odd, I've been so focusing on the end of the summer when everything will be settled, new house bought, old house sold, Bar finished, (hopefully) new job, that its only now sinking in that I'm moving halfway across the country in four days. Its kinda freaky.

What's prompting the move? shocked

I will most likely come through LA in late July ... so you'll most liklely be gone by then! Darn.

I've always wanted to get to NO sometime, but never had a professional reason for someone to send me. Ckearly, I have to work on that.

I never knew you worked in film. I always associated you with the primates. (Cue joke about how they're not really that different.) My brother's a bit of a mover and shaker in the Australian film industry, which isn't saying that much of course, but he's a M&S in a policy sense. We're a family of policy wonks, I guess.

Sometimes the angels watch out for you.

Edit:
Perhaps I should clarify that the protective fortune in question was not my own, I was just musing. While it is common knowledge that my guardian angel gets hazard pay, I found out yesterday in one of those "Oh, I thought you knew..." sort of ways that an old family friend of ours, a now retired firefighter,...
