First, Thank you! for the advise I really have no one to ask about it all so just shooting in the dark some. I swear I'm actually rolling change for skates and the support's needed. I just moved for grad school and I'm hours away from anyone I knew back home too. I'm hoping roller derby will help me meet new people and give me the kind of outlet I need sometimes. Second, I wish I could just tell you to cheer up and you would, but that's silly. You'll feel better once you find your niche and a crowd to relate to. Just keep feeling it out and something will come up... that's what I keep telling myself anyway

Well lady if you ever want someone to chat about derby with I'm here. When you get your first pair of skates they will be like solid gold in your hands because you worked so hard to save for them. I've been here for over a year and I have some really great friends but the friends you make from derby are just a lot different. It's like having 30 or more sisters that you are almost way too close to or in my case I joined at 17 before whip it came out and tons of younger girls started to join so I was the baby of the team and It was almost like having multiple super rad moms. You'll know right away if derby is for but just keep in mind that its a hard sport and some things won't come easy. when you're having trouble walking around after your first practice just keep in mind that it will easier and your legs are gonna look AWESOME.
