Ok, ok, here's an update for you fools. I told ya, no updates for a while as I was otherwise engaged, but yet the crowds still clamor..... wink

So, I've been away for the past 2 1/2 weeks. Spent the first 8 days housesitting for my boss and taking care of her insanely needy dog. I like all animals, period, but I truly do not understand...

Hey, welcome back man. Glad to see you had a good vacation...I've been up to the same. Work, spending time alone, sleep, playing video games...while the girlfriend is having fun CA.

les:
the man is at work or i'd be doing just that. I will see what I can do about the shirt, if they have 'em, consider one yours.

Yo, this has to be a quick one.

I'm housesitting for my boss until Aug. 8th, and they don't have a computer, so I'm pretty much without access to the site. And as soon as I finish housesitting, I fly south for a visit home until Aug. 16th.

So, if anyone wants to hang out before then, you're pretty much going to have to come...

So, yes, an update is long overdue.

First off, a huge thank you to those who gave me words of support during my period of not being able to afford to feed myself and such. Things have stablized quite a bit. Got a payroll advance from work, got some money from the folks. Still working on a second job, but at least bills for the...

I have nothing good to comment on and therefore shall not comment at all.

Apologies to my friends for being invisible. I'll be around when I feel like I have something worth saying.

Those of you who check my journal regularly know that I am currently being audited by the IRS. It has been determined that I owe them $800 in back taxes, plus fees and interest. Now, these unpaid taxes are due to the fact that an employer in 2002 failed to send me a W-2, supposedly due to address changes (strange that my other W-2s found...

Don't they audit people at random? You're not being made an example of, it's just what they do.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but it's hard to fight the government. If you try and fight it, you're probably going to look at some extra fines/fees and maybe some jail time if you end up telling them to go to hell and not pay at all.

Is it fair? No.
Do a ton of people get away with cheating on their taxes every year? Yes.

It's just the luck of the draw.

Do what you can, dude. Hope you have a lawyer friend or family member.
mikael:
Or you could wait it out. It's an election year. Before you expatriate yourself, write a nice letter to the local chapter of the ACLU. They LOOOVE to take on the IRS. I know of several people who successfully sued the IRS. Of course, they were being penalized for subsationally more than $800, but the point is they WON. It can be done. The IRS is not infallible. You should be allowed to state your case. Seriously, talk to the ACLU. They can at least reccommend the proper course of action given your situation.

After a few days of having the place to myself again, I'm beginning to right myself. Cleaned the place top to bottom, erased all traces of the she-devil.

Went to Pacific City on Sunday and visited a great beach. Did some tidepooling, climbed a cliff and smoked a bowl at the top, struggled to the top of a huge sand dune, pretending to be Lawrence...

ARGH!!!! I've tried leaving you a comment four different times now and each time my computer randomly shuts off.

First off, good for you for giving the she-devil the boot!

Secondly, Mikael says that my computer is doing this because the power supply is bad, so I'm getting a new one, would you be willing to trade beer for labor? If you know how to install one...

Lawrence of Arabia.... niiiiice.

That was in my uncle's bathroom when I was a kid. Good thing I was in the bathroom or I would have wet myself.

Well, we had the big Trivial Pursuit match, but some people wussed out and forced us to lower it to a 10 dollar ante. The game took us 5 hours to complete. I was the first to obtain all 6 pie pieces, but I couldn't close the fucking game out by getting back to the center, and someone else snuck in. So close, and I...

Last day of the quarter. As it stands, I have one incomplete that I'll make up in the fall (you can't fucking put me in a class with no attendance policy and no due dates for the papers), one 12-pager left to write for Org. Theory (on page 4 right now, stopped to smoke a bowl), and an optional final in Hist. of Non-Profits that...

This has been the weekend of free beer! Friday was the celebration for the Student Leaders for Service program (one of the programs run out of my office), and my boss provided tons of free beer and food (I grilled one hell of salmon). Yesterday was my ex's birthday party, with a free keg courtesy of our friend who works at Portland Brewing.

The party...

Yesterday was a bit fucked up. Was supposed to receive a $1200 check from work, which I was told will now be here next week. Well, I already paid a bunch of bills and such since I was expecting the check, so it's another week of abject poverty for me. Also got to my Organizational Theory (oh yeah, it's stimulating, let me tell you) class...

Damn fine day today. Finally got back to work after my lengthy belly sickness. Today's assignment was to take the photos at the Presidential Awards Luncheon at PSU. Best part about such gigs is that I get to raid the buffet, which this time had some wicked hummas and pita, huge buttery, croissants with ham, salami and roast beef, and hand-dipped chocolate strawberries (decadence, yes...)....

ewww.. Roommate cooties! puke

Thanks for the mention! I look forward to sticking microphones in front of you. I'm moviing soon and really hoping to find a place with a better set-up for studio work. The ambiance in my current apartment is pretty cool though. I'm a little sad to see it go actually.

The cool thing about being digital is how easy it is to move everything. I have a lot to learn and a bit of gear left to pick up. I should be fully operational by the end of September.. I am almost passable now.. The motu 828mkII has more of a learning curve than I expected. The old motu was easier to understand. biggrin

The cool thing is that I plan on working for free indefinitely. I'm doing it to learn and to be involved in what I love. biggrin
