I now offically own the home I'm living in. Well sorta. I have more papers to sign and what not. But it's a done deal.

I wish I could say I'm happy about it but some how I just feel more trapped.

I'm delighted to own the house I live in although it took me 25 solid years of hard slog to earn the money to pay for it. It can be a bit of a tie but you could sub-let it or something if you didn't want to be there.

I guess you're pretty exceptional to be unhappy when receiving a house for free. whatever

Thing one happens at 11 am. My father is giving me the house I've been living in for the past 13 years. It scares the shit out of me to think of me as a home owner.

Wowzers. I would much rather own a home than rent. With renting, you pay buttloads of money and only get a place to stay. There is absolutely no equity involved. With owning a house however, particularly one that is already paid off, You can take out a loan against the equity if you need some extra money. Sure, now you have to pay property taxes and maintain your own property, but in the long run it's much cheaper than renting.
