so I'm back in Berkeley and gearing up to go back to my job after two weeks off. After I got back from Burning Man I went to visit family for a week, which was a great way to decompress and ease back into the so-called real world. I got back home last night, and I've been jazzed to see all the journals, pictures and...

back from Burning Man, have been since Monday night. wow, wow, wow! what a cool amazing magical wonderful happy time. Didn't get to everything I wanted to see and to do and to have done to me, but I only had a week and everything I saw and everyone I met was great, beautiful, fun, and wholly Other.

still coming down, I'm just glad I...

Oh I thought you meant me lol.... Ha - that place should be living proof that none of that matters. Glad you got to enjoy the ship, and next time speak the hell up... we're doing LA decom as well as hosting the after-party on October 15th, not sure if we'll make it up for the SF decom the week before, though...

only two more days! I'm almost ready for Burning man, I think. I just need to figure out how to wrap this keffiyeh I bought today ...

so fucking excited!
heresy2007:
if we were there I could do it for you, but I can't explain it at all over the internet though. I think what you do though is fold it into a triangle like a bandana, put on head like bandana, and wrap the pieces of cloth in alternate ways down across the front of your face. Tie in back.

bet that doesn't make sense.
anyway have fuN!
hera:
OOOH! Are you gonna get naked in the desert and dance around with something that is burning?? wink

so, week 1 of my new job at the homeless shelter was challenging, but not too bad. There's some stress and emotionality (of the clients and the nature of the work), but mostly, due to working swing shift, it's more boredom than anything else. But I feel like I'm working with competent people, and though I'm getting a lot more OJT than I thought I...

so, the good news is, I got a permanent job, which is the one I wanted, in my "field". So no more dependence on temp agencies!

the bad news is, they want to start me at Swing Shifts, Wed-Sunday. So basically, no weekends! aggh!

But the silver lining of that cloud is that it's only starting, once I've been there and proven myself I can...

so very hung over .... ugh...

but in a very good way, that hazy, content feeling that makes the pain feel like a trophy and a physical reminder of the last night's fun, reminding me that I really did drink that much and party that hard.

fun stuff indeed.

went to Requiem's place out in bumfuck-nowhere Napa County, for a wine tasting, a vegetarian...

Are you going to burning man? That's cool.

I live near people's park too and it is a little sketchy. that girl was shot right there on dwight and college this summer.

Yeah I found work but not enough of it.

LA is where I grew up and its ok but it won't be the city I settle down for good in.
pallas:
Well, actually this week is really bad. I have a visitor here and am not really free at all.

Have you checked out the Albatross on San Pablo?

fuck. my car got broken into last night, and my CD player and a wallet with about 40 CD's were stolen.

mad mad mad

so I made a police report, which I didn't want to do, mainly because I don't like cops, but I figure I have to if I want my insurance to cover a replacement...

goddam it. I guess it's just a good thing that my...

OK, well, the last two weeks have been going well enough. It took me that long just to get my internet service up and running, which is why I haven't updated yet.

But anyway, my first two weeks in Berkeley have been going pretty well. I'm in a great neighborhood, with an awesome little park half a block away, I'm eating really well, and feeling...

In Berkeley at last, and enjoying it greatly!

Spent the weekend moving stuff in and then getting more stuff, and squeezed in a trip to Santa Cruz to visit friends and see fireworks.

Now, to get a job, a date, and some new clothes (maybe not in that exact order).

biggrin
hellonurse:
How's my favorite city treating you?

* cue Sam Cooke music *

it's just a Saturday night and I ain't got nobody ....

... so I'm post-whoring instead.

looking forward to Berkeley, only a week or so left of this Fresno bullshit! biggrin

don't you just hate it when you're about to leave a place, party, town or whatever and only then do you start meeting cool people?!?

still, I'm looking forward to getting outta Fresno. It's looking like Berkeley for the summer, then Burning Man, then Portland in the fall. sweet!
heresy2007:
I think that is just how it is always going to work.
same thing is going on here too!
