Hey thanks for the add... Read your interview it was really good.... Makes you understand how the film played out a little more... Who was Joshua sending info to was my big question since they didnt really mention much about it other than to his connection... But yeah I loved the film.... Recomended by someone who is from Burma....

At the time much of the footage for the Oscar-nominated documentary Burma VJ was being shot, its director, Anders stergaard, wasnt even in the same hemisphere. Wanting to open a window on the closed country of Burma (a.k.a. Myanmar), the Danish-based filmmaker struck up a groundbreaking remote collaboration with a network of underground citizen reporters, who risked torture, imprisonment and death as they shot then...

Growing up in the shadow of Disneyland, artist and illustrator Camille Rose Garcia spent a lot of time contemplating the reality of fantasy and the fantasies that make reality palatable.

Just as the white paint flaked and the wood decayed in the once-perfect picket-fenced suburbs that surround Disney's Orange County Fantasyland, on canvas and in print, Garcia's brightly colored fairytale tableaus are juxtaposed with darker...

Caprica = Terminator meets Gossip Girl.

Just imagining that pitch meeting....

And yet someone thought that was a good idea.

Anyone else think the show's slightly shit?

Don't know yet. I am just looking forward to the rumors that FOX will bring back T:TSCC for a third season next season.
nicole_powers:
Yeah, it bugs me that they cancel decent shows like T:TSCC and replace them with utter drivel. Here's hoping Fox brings it back.

On the Caprica front, the whole god thing bothers me. Really don't think there's a place for him in sci-fi, the science bit before fiction being the operative word. I mean, when we didn't have anyway to explain shit we'd blame it on our imaginary friend who lived in the sky. But I'm hoping in the future, with the benefit of advanced science and rational thinking, humanity will have grown out of that unevolved phase.

Some people choose the easiest path through life; David Belle prefers to take the most interesting. As the world's premier exponent of parkour, a physical discipline of movement that's as much a philosophy as it is a sport, Belle has carved a career out of taking the unconventional route.

The freeform method of getting around is based on techniques developed at the turn of the...

Excited to have sci-fi and computer game author Steven-Elliot Altman on SG Radio this Sunday. He'll be talking about his bestseller, The Deprivers, and his new book, The Killswitch Review, a sci-fi murder mystery with killer sociopolitical commentary.

Listen live Sunday night from 10 PM til Midnight on Indie1031.com

Got questions for Steven? Want to talk sci-fi with the ladies of SG Radio?...

Reading the Vanity Fair Oral History of Disco.

Love the quote from Fran Lebowitz:

People want to dance because people want to have sex. Dancing is sex. That's why when people say, "I'm a great dancer," that's not actually what they mean.

So true. Though, in my experience, the guys that boast about being good on the dancefloor are usually severely lacking in the...

Oh dear....I guess we need to examine this more closely.

Is it more a case of:

A. You secretly like dancing but don't feel you're very good? (Which, following my logic above, is actually a good thing -- trust me.)

or

B. You really don't like dancing no matter how good or bad you feel you are at it. (In which case, if you were honest with yourself, are there other things you really don't like even though society -- and Fran Lebowitz -- says you should?)

or

C: You like watching dancing but don't like to do it yourself. (in which case, SG has a group for that.)

Princess & The Frog; Disney teaching young girls to prostitute themselves. Princess Tiana gives a frog a kiss in exchange for money for her new restaurant. Dubious message me thinks....
the_alpha_jan:
I saw that movie and thought it was awesome. Don't forget the frog really isn't a frog and wants to be human again so will do what it takes to be human again. So both parties are at fault in some way. tongue
nicole_powers:
I really appreciate that you've taken the time to put some thought into this important issue LOL!

Also, love that fact you still watch childrens films.

To put this in perspective, that day I watched this, I also went shopping with my 8-year old BFF Riley and spent quality time playing with her rad new Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice Cream Shoppe set.
