You've hit on the biggest problem faced by the majority of post-secondary students I've met. It's hard to figure out whether you actually like something because it's what you understand or whether you have some sort of genetic/intellectual capacity for the discipline that is deeper than an easy understanding/knowledge of it.
Do what feels right. If for some reason you second guess simply because it might be easy to get a job, or cruise through the program (which would be pretty hard given the fact that a phd is the intended result) then I dunno, 7 years of school may not be up your alley, but you never know, once you're finished it might be everything you've been looking for.
