Entering the home stretch of the school year with only 28 days left, my patience is nearly shot. It has nothing to do with my students; them, I love. They are the only reason I want to go to school. The problem is the other teachers. I am sick to death of the incompetence, the uncaring, the treating students like crap, the laziness, the utter...

I completely understand! Sounds a bit like a rant I had a couple months ago about fellow daycare teachers and how I just can't understand why some of them even work with kids. Keep being the great, caring teacher you are. I can only imagine how many students you must have who will always remember how different and special you have been to them. I still remember all of my favorite teachers by name..all the way back to 3rd grade. Mr.DeCarlo,science...Mr.Brumfield,music and Mr.Welsh, high school English. They all made a lasting impression on me. I guarantee you have made such an impression on many young minds already. Not much longer and then SUMMER!!! <3
heathen:
I think the bad teachers just make it so the good ones are more appreciated by the students when they come along smile Woohoo for summer break!

Is recognition from higher ups at work, from friends, from total strangers truly important? Though I would love to answer no, that I am fine with my own opinions about myself, along with a few close friends' opinions, that certainly isn't true. I crave positive recognition from other people. It means the world to me when people take time out of their day to tell...

From what I know about you and what you've told me, you sound like an amazing teacher and I can tell you really love what you do. That's important. Sometimes people are just in their own little world and don't see the people around around them.
Im going through the whole "I want to be appreciated, dammit" phase at work. Not so much from the kids, but the bosses.

PS I love the "Fuck sparkly teenage vampires. I like mine old-school!" thing. I just bought the Twilight book because it was $.50. Hoping its better than the movie, because that was brutal to sit through.

I am currently studying to get Masters in Adult Education. It is my dream to teach someday. I want to show people that through learning and education you can make a difference. Not to mention, I consider myself to be a pretty big nerd so I will enjoy being in a school environment without being the student. You are so right though, getting kind words from others saying that that you helped them learn or understand something better when otherwise they couldn't, is such a rewarding thing to experience. I can not wait to have a similar experience. I hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday! biggrin

Spring break has mercifully come for me and with it, a huge sense of relief. I've been absofuckinglutely stressed out over the last two months for a variety of reasons, mainly due to the fact that I've had so much do to for school. Now, I have far less to do and can breath a colossal sigh of relief. I can finally read more, something...

I hope you had a great spring break. You deserve it. Relax. Have fun. smile

I don't think it's conceited to think highly of yourself at all. You're an attractive, intelligent, and caring man. If anyone deserves to think highly of themselves, it's you.

I hope you have a great last few days off! biggrin

Often, I feel as though I've taken on far too much in my life. I am in charge of three clubs at school and am also the department head. This, on top of all of my responsibilities as a teacher. I have recently become obsessed with art, which now (happily) takes up a lot of my time. I love to read. Unfortunately, I haven't been...

I love music, just about more than I love anything else on Earth. I've often wondered how we develop our musical tastes? Yes, I know a bit of it has to do with your chilldhood, possibly shaped and started by what your parents listen to. Where does the taste come from beyond that? Why do some people like a certain band or type of music...

I used to be obsessed with Jewell too. Maybe it was the boobs.smile I think musical tastes are determined by many things. Outside influences being one of the big ones. Some of us tend to gravitate towards what our friends and family like. others tend to navigate away from that.

On the first of the year, I started a Project a Day, making an Artist Trading Card each day. Two months in and 59 cards done. Some nights, it's the last thing I wan to do. Most days, I am excited and look forward to creating it. If you don't know, an Artist Trading Card is 2 and a half inches by 3 and a...

Artist cards? That's a good idea! Maybe a writers card extended series? Better than football cards. I'm gonna check your site out. Ok. I just went and I like the idea that your creating your own stuff. Isn't there a movement where people leave stuff like that in public places for other people to run across on there own? Usually people walk around in their own little world and finding something like that might snap you back into the moment. Good idea. Keep it up!

Fiercely, I'm fighting against the post-Christmas blues. The time from about a week before Halloween until now (well, until New Year's Day), is enjoyable. But from here until who know when, things aren't nearly as exciting. There isn't as much to look forward to. The weather is dreary. Blah blah blah. I am busy finding ways to fight the dreariness, to make my life more...

I am a paradox within.
At times, I want people to be so close to me that they are literally a part of me, that they are inside to me, glued to me.
Other times, I want to be as far away from peole as possible, isolating myself on purpose.
And when I am by myself, the waves and pangs of need for someone near...

Winter break is officially here! With nothing to do for school until January 3, I plan on filling this break with art, reading, movies, finally getting some writing done, seeing friends, and just enjoying the fuck out of the next two weeks. Anyone looking for a cool new friend to talk to during that time? I'm your man!
miri:
That seems to be my plan as well! smile Yeah, break.

I haven't had a lot of time for art lately. That will change this weekend. I am done with grading, and I need to take some time for myself.
Why is that I relish my role as a slight outcast at school? When I was in junior high myself, I wanted tons of friends, wanted to be popular, wanted to be in on everything. Now,...
