If you want to have an intelectual debate, the CE boards are not the place for it.

Incidentally, I work in politics, and love sports.

Well the past couple of weeks have been hecktic as all hell, I have been leaving the house at 5:30 am and getting home at 7:00 pm. Hopefully here pretty quick this house will sell and I can get my butt back out on the road again. I think im going to run down around corpus christi texas and see how I like...

Corpus Christi is the area I have my eye on as well. Seems like a combination of the advantages of Texas and Florida.

jormagund:

Well, I have a Detroit series 60 (hey, company truck) and a 10-speed autoshift... and I carry a lot of heavy loads. Hills Science Diet is a big customer of ours and a typical pet food load is anywhere from 40-45,000lbs.

A lot of drivers have negative things to say about the auto-shift but I have to tell ya... I love it. It may be "tedious" going up and down hills in places like WV but when I thought about what I said it almost seemed stupid. I set the cruise, turn on the engine brake and it takes care of the rest. If it has to drop to 9,8.7 whatever while climbing, it does so itself and I don't have to touch anything. When I crest and begin to descend I can move the paddle into "L" and that'll hold it back into 9th on the way down so I rarely have to touch the brakes. So in retrospect I suppose I should shut the fuck up about it since that's pretty darn easy.

If it were my truck, I'd get myself an APU. But for the time being driving theirs... I'm just going to idle. Or send them my bills for Idle-Aire locations.

yes i am really glad too now that i have seen the car. BUt it is hard because i have been so broke for so long and struggling to pay of the debts i had has been such a major focus that its was hard to not think about how this will cost me. On the other hand its forced me to take action, so maybe I will do more about the debts even though they are a bit bigger now.

=) Thank you.. Im glad you liked it. Im rather fond of that photo myself.

Didn't you have some white truck that you were looking at? Where you were going to paint the frame red?

When you mentioned her I got curious about her age. She's 24... born December 2nd, 1981 according to IMDB.

But I know what you mean, nonetheless. When she was shaking her ass at age 16 I was 26. Just put the handcuffs on and take me to prison.

jormagund:

Yeah it was pretty weird. I almost called it a miracle until I remembered I'm an atheist. But it's certainly something you don't see every day. Also noteworthy was the construction was in much less of a state of "fucked up" than I've seen it in for a while. They might actually be showing some progress on the 80/94 corridor. Now I'm gonna run 20 across the top of Indiana to avoid their toll road and since I have time to kill.

Not really getting a lot of miles this week but the holiday fucked everything up so I'm not blaming anyone. Getting to hit that amusement park made it a good week regardless.

Just got an email asking me on a date tonight. Replied that it'd be a bit difficult for me to make the 934 miles to Providence by dinner time. Doh!

Friday June 23 rd @ 03:32 AM some one shot my step brother Jason in a field in Bozeman.

Fucking people suck.

It was better to creep along at 35mph (uphill) and almost the speed limit (downhill) than have to get hooked in, I agree. Although while climbing a hill in the breakdown lane with my 4-ways on, an overhanging tree took out my SIRIUS antenna. It was one of the old-school kinds that looks like a club. Just wrecked it. So I ended up spending $65 on one of the new short mushroom looking ones.

Anyhow, at least the company is paying for the hotel and layover. I'm only about 90 miles from the house but my sister JUST had a baby, my mother has MS and can't make that kind of drive, so there was no realistic way to get home without being a pain in someone's ass.

Sorry about your step-brother. That's fucked up.

The past few weeks have been very interesting. I have been going through lots of changes in my life. The first of which is I am no longer working for my dad, he and I cannot see eye to eye on things and it has been very frustrating trying to deal with these things, and I am actually very relived it is over. As well...

congrats on getting things going as planned....always a nice thing to see hard work pay off!

sorry to hear what happened with your dad....its odd fighting with your parent. hopefully these changes can help ease things between the two of you, though.

so hopefully things move smoothly for you in the upcoming years, and all the hard work and sacrifices are shown as being worth it!

jormagund:

I'm surprised to even hear you say it. I was under the impression it was more of a ways to an end for ya... that being getting back to school. And it's been sounding like that plan is underway.

Heck, I only wish I could motivate myself to get back to college. Perhaps some day I'll find the drive and discipline necessary to turn in that direction. Don't have it now though, so I keep on doing this type of work and I'm more or less ok with that.

It's funny how I have constantly had that itch about getting my own truck again since returning to this company. But like I said I'm going to (try to) do it for a year before I make a change. They're good people to work for at least. Later if I decide to buy or lease something I'll need to decide who. Sorta thinking about Landstar. Or I could always get another straight truck and do expediting.
