My parents idea of religion IS pretty retarded man, its a fucking joke. How can you love jesus and be a racist woman hater at the same time? Whatever. Its not my life right. Its just unfortunate that we can't see eye to eye but thats not all that uncommon with parents. I just know so many people whose parents actually accept them for who they are.

All most people want in life is to feel heard and understood and so few people can do that well. Maybe instead of compulsory military service we need compulsory Service service. Everyone has to work some job for at least 2 years where they are compelled in some fashion to make sure people are taken care of (medical, tech support, flight attendant, waitress, etc.).

Since I was going to come here to say something about tipping, I have to agree with Moss that everyone should have to do something like that. Then they will know how much it sucks when you don't get tipped. It wasn't really the tipping thread that got me going as much as the random nasty things people will post when they don't agree with you. You don't have to say someone is stupid, or lame, or whatever, just because they're not in front of your face and you don't like what they said. So that's why I'm taking a break. Tipping is just a pet peeve because my life revolves around tips.

you are so right. i do respect peter jackson as a true fan of tolkien, and believe he has every good intention with the movies. i also recall feeling the same way about the fellowship when i first saw it, and it took a couple (nine in the theater alone- and i now own both versions of the movie on dvd) more veiwings to see why some of the changes were necesary. i think i will try to see it agian tonight.
as for tolkien, yes he was the master. i have read a couple of biographys on him too... very interesting stuff.
