I am scheduled to take the GRE (Graduate School entry test), in three hours. It is awesome (using the original meaning of the word) that a four hour test will determine the direction of my life for the next several years.

Has a cop ever actually helped you? I'm not talking about doing you a favor by giving you a warning instead of a ticket. I'm talking, full fledged justice. Have you ever had something stolen and the cops caught the thief?

Canada is not a nuclear state. They could be if they wanted to, but they don't want to. They used to have some bombs on loan from us courtesy of some NATO pact, but they gave them back.
And no, I have never encountered a helpful cop.

There is a difference between the mind and the brain. We will never be able to reverse engineer the mind by studying the brain. Doing so would be like trying to reverse engineer a Windows box while someone is surfing the internet by staring at the motherboard. It's never going to happen.

Daniel Dennett would disagree...
There's a good book summarizing these kinds of debates, Searle's The Mystery of Consciousness, or something along those lines. It's a good read.

Yeah, it's really on consciousness, and trying to understand how it works, what it is, etc. There are some, like Dennett, who say that it's like a side-effect generated by biological processes, and if we just knew enough about brain chemicals, we'd see how it worked. Basically, that the idea of a mind/brain split if an illusion. There are others who disagree. It's a good introduction to several different views on it, and an enjoyable book.
How much do you think Davie Jones, of the Monkeys, hated his locker in high school?

Did you know that by the 9th century, many Muslim scholars took it for granted that the Earth was a sphere. The proof, said astronomer Ibn Hazm, "is that the Sun is always vertical to a particular spot on Earth". It was 500 years before that realisation dawned on Galileo. The calculations of Muslim astronomers were so accurate that in the 9th century they reckoned...

Tonight I'm going to a fry party. The idea is to batter and fry the most disgusting concoction you can imagine. Last year I wrapped three cheese injected hot dogs in bacon. I battered and fried the bitch to a glorious golden brown abomination. It was surprisingly good.
Other items fried last year include:
An entire ultimate bacon cheeseburger from Jack in the Box.

On monday I will shell out $465 to have someone stick a camera down my throat. Call me crazy, this seems like something they should be paying me to allow.
I have less than nothing interesting to say.
I hope you're having a nipple good day.

I doubt you can have both at once. Or maybe they'd just jump from one weird obsessive tasks to the next. Like spend thirty seconds combing the fronds on their rugs, delinting their couches, and straightening everything in the house to a certain angle and just bounce back and forth between them.
