So cute. I think your music taste was pre-destined with the kickass hair, too.
alyssum:
Holy crap, that's the shiniest hair ever. How'd you manage to score a bright pink cast?

My mother was 20 again. She was curvy and thin, and her round face was beaming. We were dressed as flappers and performing at a VFW hall. We spun and clapped and kicked our legs in the air like pinwheels. We danced together, dimple to dimple, hand in hand. My father lay in a bed in the back, his eyes, smile, and nails yellow with...

I skim it every now and then when I get the chance, but I haven't been collecting it. I get my Kirkman fix from Invincible.
hooraydiation:
The first Invincible trade does kind of suck (it's all pretty cliched), at least when read independant of the subsequent issues. In Invincible, at least, Kirkman's got kind of a habit of using several issues to set things up without regard for the fact that the reader won't reach any kind of payoff if he or she reads those issues alone.

Invincible does pick up in later issues. If you read issues 1-13 straight through (that's what I did), it makes for a much for satisfying experience.

I only buy trades, mostly, so I'm usually far behind on everything. The only series I buy individual issues of right now is American Virgin

He shook her by her smooth, red shoulders violently and demanded she hear him. She could not. "The sound," he cried, "the sound is not the only thing. I am here, there are others here!" And though she stared at this brow and saw his angry breath move her hair, she could not hear him. She was deaf to anything with absence of melody and...

So I'm sitting with my big headphones on in the dark at 5am, sobbing.

Apparently, "Get Lonely" is not the easiest album for me to listen to right now. Damn you, Darnielle. You know it means business when I have to shut a brand new Mountain Goats album off half way through, no matter how good it is.

edit 742pm: I tried again, this time...

I'm so tempted to write a song called "The Adolf Hitler Happy Times Cake Walk" but I'm afraid I'd be drawn and quartered if I ever performed it in public.

Tullycraft on The Fabulist! Also, a live Mountain Goats video. I bring you good things today.

So, I got to meet and/or begin correspondance with Sean Nelson, Michael Leviton, Matt Walsh, and Jordan Crane. I also starting hanging out with my bartender? Between rushing the stage at Belle and Sebastian, finding out Sean and I went to the same middle and high school, and getting...

People don't reply because they're lazy.

That being said, one of these days I just may actually go on that site.

Frankly, my dear, I couldn't give a rat's ass.

What a fucking weird weekend.

I was a quiet, lunchbox lonely little boy. Reading sci-fi, broken treehouse on the shore. At nineteen, the talking in my head got harder to understand. No work, no school, drifting, a failing satellite. Dont feel sorry for me, Ive been happy too. Manic, kindly, blinding, high-res euphoria.

I like the sound of your weekend. It feels familiar. Although I sometimes find the high-res euphoria a little hard to take in large doses. I tend to need a nap afterwards.

The Belle and Sebastian show last night was completely mind blowing. It left me shaking, sweaty, and grinning.
Write up of the show and 5 songs on The Fabulist.
I still have show after glow and will for a long time. I can't get over how amazing rushing the stage at the Hollywood Bowl was. I was closer than I could have been at...

Sonny Melendrez sends his regards. He just adores Belle and Sebastian

Speaking of Belle and Sebastian, has it ever occured to you how much they can sound like the Kinks?
johnclement:
(In reference to the Weakerthans) Obviously you need to live in a cultural mecca like Northeast Ohio, rather than that backwater Los Angeles.

Glad to hear the Belle and Sebastian show was good.
