Which piece is the inspiration? I'm not super familiar with his work, most just the stuff from reading Heavy Metal. I do have his 05 calendar though.
Masamune Shirow on the other hand, I am kinda collecting. Aside from Ghost in the Shell, the man is rather amazing. Very fantasy though, as opposed to Royo's gothic motif.
