From what I know about taxes - I don't think you make enough to be of any concern to the gov't. I'm going to mention it to my mom - but I think you're in the clear! (It sounds like you earn every penny!) It's only if you make over min wage a year (which varies from state to state, NYC is pretty high, so I think you're below it in your freelance earnings). ANYWAY, I hope this comes as good news. smile I'll report back from the expert though!

If you webcam for a company or representative or affiliate program, they are taking credit cards and likely filing 1099 forms with the IRS on the income they claim to have sent you. They are required by law to send you a 1099 form, mirroring what they sent the feds. If they did not send you a 1099, request one. If they don't comply, it's equally likely that they did not report your income or their income.

I am guessing that you need to report income and taxes to qualify for your student aid. Getting this resolved is obviously a priority although I'm not sure why you are unable to report "no income" when applying for student aid.

As a private contractor (webcam business), you may benefit from itemizing your deductions since you use your home as your office, etc. There are a number of sites you can visit where this process is described and guidelines provided.

Sweet mercy!
