Tonight was my first Taekwondo/Hapkido class, and I loved it. I think Taekwondo is something I could actually become good at, and I liked the people at this school a lot. First of all, the grandmaster is very accessible and actually goes around and gives students personal attention. And there were these two cute black belt boys in the class today who were like, "I...

I'm feeling more physically healthy than I have in a very long time. I'm thinking about getting back to kung fu, or maybe hapkido.

Back from San Francisco and feeling that end of vacation sadness. I'm going to miss my brother.

And it's amazing the kinds of tricks my mind can play on me. Lately, depression has been telling me two somewhat contradictory things: 1) I'm hideous and 2) people only like me because they're physically attracted to me and want to have sex with me. It follows that...

I'm leaving San Francisco early tomorrow morning. When I get back to New York, I can upload all my photos, and you can expect a photo-filled entry.

My time here has been nice. I've explored the city, chatted with lots of interesting and inspiring people, and spent quality time with my brother.

Negotiating my meds with the time difference has been a little difficult, and...

Tomorrow: California, here I come! I'm excited to get away from New York (and the cold weather!) and to see my brother, his girlfriend, and some Bay Area friends. Plus, I've never been to San Francisco, and everyone who's been there and knows me predicts that I'll love it. Maybe I'll abscond permanently.

In other news, one of my favorite Japanese businessmen (an ESL student)...

I'm working in San mateo and I usually don't get off of work until late - are you here though the weekend?
_bossanova_:
Oh, don't worry-we did talk. I just didn't have the talk I wanted to, but he did seem receptive when I told him about the high percentage of genetic material we share with chimpanzees.smile

If you ever want to run away to Tokyo, let me know. That's my plan B if this recession hits me too hard...there will always be work for non-Asian exotic women there.tongue

In two weeks, I'll be visiting my brother in Oakland, CA. I'm looking forward to the trip, not only because I get to see my brother, but because I haven't taken a true vacation in a long time. I'm feeling a bit tired of New York, and I need to get away.

Thanks for the advice. I was going to do beans and tofu for my proteins. I'm only going to do it one day a week to start. Going to do oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, whole wheat toast with grilled mushrooms and veges for lunch and the brown rice with black beans and mango salsa for dinner.

I dont think I can do this more than once a week, I am reducing the amount of animal protein I am having by half so thats a good start.

Miss ya. Havent seen you in a while. I need to go out more. smile
vegemite:
yes absolutely!

I don't usually write fiction, but a friend and I have been going back and forth, writing stories in which we face off against Dracula and seduce priests and stuff. It's pretty awesome.

**Update/explanation**: The woman is a Thai actress named Vicki Sunisa Jett. I have a history of people I barely know comparing me to celebrities I do not remotely resemble, and this is the latest comparison on my list. I also find that I do not look like Jessica Simpson or Jennifer Lopez. Where does this shit come from?

I have a random, totally weird question....

Thank you for your kindness. I used to hold things in all the time. I realized that it was making me sick to do so. Now I express my feelings, sometimes to excess.

In Mae-Ann's case, having these feelings accumulate and fester inside of her has done irreparable damage to our relationship. If she would have made her feelings known, we might have been able to work things out. What I'll miss most is the companionship of a woman. This was my first "real" relationship since my wife passed away. I don't know if or when I'll find another one like it.

What baffles me the most is that she would do this at a time when she knows I'm trying to get out of the rut I'm in, what with the depression, anxiety and shortage of money. I shudder to think how I would have dealt with this if I wasn't on meds and wasn't in counseling.

I hope you're doing well.

I feel as though I may be leaving one of my closest friends behind. I met L in treatment about a year ago, and since then we've both made a lot of progress. I, however, have made more progress than she has. I eat. I maintain a healthy weight. I don't take pills, I don't self-harm, I don't usually abuse exercise or alcohol, and I've...

I'm glad to hear you're doing better. I know it's a struggle, which may seem strange to people that haven't gone through something like that, but it is. You're stronger than you realize.

It's sad to see situations like that, but it puts things in perspective. You can see how much progress you've made. It's worth doing whatever it takes to maintain that.

If you'll be out this weekend I'm dancing Saturday night. I'd go Friday but I have to work early Saturday.frown

Wow. Your friend clearly isn't in a place where she can afford to have that kind of influence in her life. There needs to be a separation for everyone's sake.

I had a very happy birthday. I hung out with Lauren, ate frozen yogurt, browsed in a few stores, saw and enjoyed Coraline, and had dinner and dessert.

Thanks to all who sent me wishes!
