CEILIDHS FOR WORLD WELLBEING!

The party on Saturday went off fantastically. Loads of people turned up, and we all danced our socks off. The band were great, despite giving me kittens by turning up 45 minutes late. The weather was beautiful too. All in all, a great night (although I could have done without Wifey drunkenly demanding a bottle of champagne at midnight - that...

Two stories from my past life which I think sit together well, and are about the value of life. I think.

My first mountain rescue callout, while working as a trainee countryside warden, was to be on hand to assist with a man who had sustained a heart attack while walking on Kinder. When we arrived there, we found that the first people on the...

Your first story brings back my memories of working for the NHS. It's a very hard yet often worthwhile job. You've evidently got a few stories to tell. x

You must check out Plastique's set "Red Ribbon"---it is brilliant; powerful, erotic, evocative, and beautiful. Absolutely not the kind of everyday-nude-pics that comprise the near-entirety of mainstream pornography.

Good morning, everyone!

I hope you are all well out there.

First things first; the puppies. We went, we saw, we chose...although it was incredibly difficult. In fact, we had to choose a No. 1 and a No. 2 choice. This is because the owner of the stud dog has first choice, and she hadn't visited yet. Although, apparently, she wants to take a bitch....

You're back!!!!! I really miss you my dear!!!!! I'm so glad that you were here again....biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I wanna propose two names for the puppies:
1- JonSnow: my favourite character of my favourite book (Song of Ice and Fire)
2- Steve McQueen: because he never runs aways from danger wink
I love the pic with the mountains!!! I repeat: you're really luck.

Never go ways again....wink Kisses!

Thank you for the awesome comment on my set! It was very sweet! smile

Cuuuuuuteeee puppies! I agree. Get one that will tolerate children pulling on tails and such. lol.

OMG. That is such a beautiful picture!!

We're off to choose a puppy tomorrow! Very exciting. And then we go straight on from there for a few days camping in North Wales with our friends, so I hope everyone has a good weekend, and I'll drop you a line in a week or so.

But I have to update you on my wife's birthday yesterday. First of all, although she went to...

I hope your little one is feeling better. I know how heart-wrenching it is.
And Happy Birthday to your wife. The brooch for your wife sounds amazing! I am in awe! So cool!!!

And I thought I would play with the pictures in photoshop, see if I could add some depth for you. They are such stunning pictures even as they are... no wonder the legends of fairies abound... Simply amazing...

Okay, here's a little song for Ted_Stryker , who has made our dear Gyllien very happy, and has helped bring a little cheer into our world with his love for her. I know all of Gyll's friends wish them both lots of happiness!

I've been listening to a lot of Bowie recently, and this song seems very appropriate indeed! So, Mr Stryker, to you, and...

I <3 Bowie.

Holy crap. That is an amazing thing to win. I can only say that I am super jealous.

My mom saw him at the Filmore in San Francisco way back when people still thought he was a "weird" nobody and fell in love then. She was never one to push anything on us but when I discovered him pretty much on my own in my early teen years (12 perhaps) she was happy. =P

CAUTION: THIS BLOG MAY CONTAIN PUPPIES

Hi All

First of all, thanks for the nice remarks about the poem. It's an awful long time since I've tried to write anything remotely worth sharing, so I'm glad you liked it. The tulips are all blousy and drunk now, especially with the wind and rain we've had almost constantly for the past few days. But the geraniums...

Hi All

Apologies for my extended absence. What do you mean, you didn't notice? Tsk!

Since our home PC got some virus problems a while back, I've been using my company laptop, which wasn't a problem until the Web Filter designated SG as pornography and blocked access. But, on the bright side, it did prompt me to finally get the PC sorted, and it didn't...

So.

I'm a member of a few groups on this site. But I occasionally get the feeling they are a little dull and worthy. You know, UK Politics, Anti-racism ('I hate racists' 'So do I' 'Hooray!'), The Book Club, Folk Music and so on.

So, today I decided to swing by the Masturbation Group to see what they talked about. To be honest, I wasn't...

I've been in self imposed exile for the past few days. I immensely enjoyed this, and the other two blogs I had missed.

Nasty weather here lately. It went down to 2C the other night. Rain and wind every day. I Ioved the photos you posted - beautiful gardens and splendid weather!

Thanks for sharing the glimpses of your life...
and the lego vid, music and history smile
mrsted_stryker:
THAT group makes me laugh. I go in there when I need some comedy material. I mean, I have enough masturbation material in my email INBOX! wink

So are you out of the doghouse hun?

I am Not The Flavour Of The Month.

This is marginally better than being In The Doghouse. But still not good. I won't go into the details. Save to say that, when you have made plans for a little country walk, and the Flu Sufferer says she is not fit to go, but suggests we go shopping for an outfit for her birthday party instead,...

Very nice home. And you're definitely a smart man....I think we've all been in the doghouse at one time or another. No need to pick a scab...sometimes it's best to let it heal on it's on!

TRUE TO MY WORD.......

....we have just finished watching The English Patient; the bottle of Rioja is nearly empty, and I can still feel the tears on my cheeks.

Not one scene is superfluous. Every scene cuts through you and makes you realise that love, real love, is felt, not in the heart, but in the pit of your stomach. And that real love can...

I appreciate what you said about the differences between The English Patient book and film. It's just something I've taken to doing lately - if I particularly enjoy a film, I'll read the book(s) that it was adapted from or inspired by. I've introduced myself to several wonderful writers in this manner. Thank you for bringing this film (and book) back into the present for me.

I had no idea that Anthony Minghella had passed. What a tragedy. I loved all of his films that you mentioned and all that I've seen. I am deeply saddened.

I can't help but be reminded of the untimely death of Krzysztof Kieslowski - life saving surgery; identical result.

yes. i must watch it again, been an age, and i'm sure to see things with new eyes... i just saw an incredible movie this wend, so much so, i wrote about it. 'the prestige'... more in my blog smile

It's a cool 15C here this morning

What's that in old money? Let's see.....Tf = (9/5)*Tc+32......so that's 59F.

I think at least three of you have told me that it's 95F where you are. I couldn't remember the last time the temperature reached 95F in Britain, so I checked up. And it was July 2006, when it reached 97.7F in the south (the highest recorded...

19C here after being after hitting 33C earlier in the week.

The last time that I saw The English Patient was when it was first released - an excellent film! It's now in the queue for my future viewing pleasure.

Best of luck with your presentation on layered virtualization solutions for internal infrastructure in Tier 2 datacentres. I hope that it is well received. I wish I knew what it was smile

THE WORLD ONLY SPINS FORWARD

In 1990, I was in my third year of work in London. Living above an antiques shop on the Kings Road, I shared the premises with the owners, the guy who sold the paintings, the guy who sold the books, and a photographer. And, of all of us, I was the only straight guy.

I loved my time there, and...

Back in the eighties I worked at a large, multinational corporation. Several of my co-workers contracted and eventually died from AIDS. Many friends and fellow dealers on the flea market circuit as well. It's a damnable crime that so little was done at the time to help them.

We seemed to have a great societal gift for looking the other way while so many of our fellow beings were suffering.

As always, of course, there were some shining exceptions...
nurseevy:
Hahahahaha. Man flu.

Please don't tell my stupid American copatriots about that or it will be a "pandemic" here too. *sigh*

Yes, the silliness was getting to me. I keep having to refraining from shaking people I know, who are otherwise intelligent, when they get on a kick about swine flu.
