Unfinished Business

Part One of Three March 2006

I still wonder, looking back, what was my exact emotion at that moment? Disbelief, I suspect, was uppermost in my mind. Bewilderment, perhaps. I cant remember feeling angry, although I should have. Angry with myself, and with the circumstances.

I had planned this trip for months, pored over the map, noted my route in excruciating detail, leg...

FREEDOM LTD

On a whim, I did a search on 'freedom' in Google today. The first entry was about making the most of your last night of freedom with amazing stag and hen parties (Freedom Ltd). Then Wikipedia, obviously. And then the Freedom Group of Companies (specialising in utilities). We also have Freedom Recruitment, Freedom Press, Freedom Lager and Freedom Insurance. All on the first...

As always, your words make all the sense in the world. I agree with you totally about SG. For me, it's way beyond a porn site. The people i've met and the love and support i've gotten transcend anything that anyone may say about this site that's negative. I'll debate anyone who forms what i consider ignorant conclusions about SG with all my being.

I get so crazy this time of year. I thought i'd be better with it this year, but obviously not so. As someone told me yesterday, my guilt really isn't about my sexual desires or my feelings toward the woman who was instrumental in bringing them to the forefront after years of dormancy. The guilt stems from her being gone and me still being here.

Sometimes I think that leaving me to fend for myself was a cruel joke. I seem to prove time and again that I have mountains of trouble dealing with life without Annette.

One thing Ithat I have accomplished on my own is discovering a group of people that I've come to love and trust. Those are real friendships in anyone's book.
wsoxfan:
Wll said.

The things I said in my blog stemmed from being without Annette and missing her so much. Maybe there's even a little anger at her leaving me, even though those feelings make no sense. All in all, this too shall pass.

You should see their version of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

(Edit: sorry I had to add this one - this is just ukulele genius!!!)

And is is just me, or is he the spit of Big off Sex and the City?

It's not just you. He does look a lot like Chris Noth from Sex and the City.
wsoxfan:
Not a long reply at all. I'm unable to sleep and find myself on SG since 5:00am my time.

Baseball is also popular in Latin America. It's a way for kids to attempt to get out of a life of abject poverty.

I feel that one of the reasons that soccer hasn't caught on here is directly related to the overwhelming popularity of the sport in most other places around the world. I believe there is a certain arrogance here that believes that our sports, baseball, basketball and American football are superior to any sport that originates and is wildly popular in other parts of the world.

Even hockey, a sport which, to many people, is more exciting than any of the sports I've mentioned isn't as popular as it should be because it's considered a "foreign" sport. I know I sound very critical of my country's mindset and attitudes. However, these are my honest observations, whether they hold water or not.

"We're not really here!"

...the traditional Manchester City fans' anthem of disbelief at a good performance from their team echoed around the Eastlands stands yesterday. And, to be honest, we couldn't believe we were there. There, and watching our beloved Blues rip through a talented Arsenal team in a 12 minute spell that netted us 3 goals, and put the match beyond dispute.

This match...

More and more reasons I want so bad to visit Manchester! I'm sure the Misses would agree that we need to somehow fly out and visit so you can show us around. That would be marvelous!!
wsoxfan:
It continues to amaze me that a sport that has so much universal acclaim has never permanently caught on here in the US. The only time there's any kind of buzz is when one of our teams does something extraordinary on a world stage.

Could it be that we're just plain old snobs?

I have a habit....

.....of finding great albums far later than the release date. Which can mean I am several years behind the zeitgeist at times, although I like to think I'm just retro!

Case in point. When my wife's son turned 18, I bought him five books, five films and five albums I thought every 18 year old should have. I'm not sure I...

HONESTY IS VERY OVERRATED

Tongue That Canot Lie

I was born with a tongue that cannot lie
and how it grieves me
Each fleeting thought behind my eye
just up and leaves me
Into the wild, like a bastard child
born under a briar
Oh to be, oh to be, oh to be a liar

I've been courted by saints and by sinners
who all...

wsoxfan:
I've always believed that there are special circumstances when being less than truthfult is not only appropriate, but necessary. One of the many problems of our time is that lying has become as natural as breathing for more and more people. Rationalizations for doing so have also become commonplace.

I wonder what the reasons are for this massive change in values? It probably has a lot to do with the way our leaders and people of influence behave without any seeming consequences. That creates a snowball effect that has no end in sight.

Discussion. Ah. smile

In which case, I love honesty. My other half is autistic, and as a concequence he is brutally honest. And therefore I always know where I stand with him.

Besides, you can always trust a dishonest person to be dishonest. An honest person is the one you have to watch out for (thank you Scrubs). x

CORNISH CAMPING AT NOONGALLAS

Hi everybody

I'm back working today, after what feels like a long time away. I can think of a million things to write about as usual, but today I will stick to a little holiday update. What with Merlin still being very young, we just had a few days camping down in Cornwall. It was a site we hadn't been to,...

Still officially 'out of the office'. But can I just take this moment to say 'YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!' We've beaten the Aussies and regained the Ashes!!! What a fantastic performance; Trott's test debut century, Broad's excellent pace bowling, Swann's wonderful spin, Flintoff's larger than life performance, and Strauss's brilliant captaincy. Just SOOOO good! Ricky Ponting's dignified and determined performance as the Aussie captain too, literally spitting blood...

I'll be away for a couple of weeks, having a bit of a holiday, and a rest. I was just going to leave the last blog up. But, actually, I'm feeling quite incandescent at some of the abuse and downright lies, rightwing, fuckhead Republicans are spouting about Britain's National Health Service.

Now, I'm not interested in getting involved in other country's domestic policies. If a...

MY MUM GAVE ME A SEX MANUAL

Okay...has all the sniggering at the back finished? You sure? Let me expand a little on that statement. When I worked at Harrods about 20 years ago, my Mum gave me a seventeenth century guide to marital matters to have it valued at the company's auctioneers. Sadly, it wasn't worth a great deal, as it seems it was...

Of little worth? I'd say it's priceless! I don't know though... black matter I can deal with but "fpungy" would worry me.

We have a couple hundred miles of rail trails right in this area. I hike on them all the time. We'd be much better off, of course, if trains were still running on them though. Progress.
hedy:
that book sounds amazing. i have a small but growing collection of sex manuals from the past 80 years or so, but nothing that old! i love them all. i have no idea why. they just make me happy.

oh gosh, merlin is only a puppy? just how big is he going to get i wonder? he is lovely, and that photo of him asleep on the sand says it all... smile glad to hear you are taking advantage of the precious few days of summer we have, it really is glorious when the sun comes out to play.

still getting through the box set, i'm really loving it i have to say, i dont watch television anymore, havent done for six months now, and actually, i don't miss it, so its a nice way to wind down by watching a dvd instead. i agree, i really liked aiden over big, but, horses for courses...

hope merlins tum is better? the odd time rocky ever does such things, i dont even aknowledge any problem, i have to pretend nothing is there on the floor, as he is by this stage, absolutely mortified for having an accident, so he is feeling very embarrased, the things we do... biggrin

hope you are having a lovely week,

b smile

I have wanted to go punting on the Thames ever since I watched Mary Poppins. smile It sounds like a great festival. I have to admit, it's been a while since I've been to one, because usually the word 'festival' evokes memories of mud and flying bottles of piss.

What beautiful photos, your daughter is lucky to have a dad who would take her to such a beautiful place. smile x
